"it's literally a fifteen minute walk, you didn't have to pick me up to take me to work you bum." i closed the passenger seat door and went to nick's trunk to get my apron. i looked up from the trunk and saw him smirking at me from the rearview mirror.

"i mean hey, i had nothing else to do so." he said shrugging his shoulders. "call me if anything, i come get you at around 10:30 to pick you up." i nodded and watched his car drive off. i walked into the coffee shop with the smell of coffee filling my nostrils. it's been about two months since school started and i applied about a week after. i mean it's not the coolest job to have but the pay was decent even though there were some setbacks. i wasn't even in for five seconds before my amazing boss, henry, who brings me nothing but bundles of joy, spoke.

"why the hell are you late, hm?" you see what i mean? bundles of joy.

"i'm not late henry" i said rolling my eyes

"check the time missy, it's 5 minutes passed 7, which means you're late. hurry up and get behind the counter, i need you to lock up as usual." he tossed me the keys and went back to his office.

"i swear yo, yo creo que ese tipo tiene un palo metió por el culo." my co-worker jalissa said cleaning the counter and putting more coffee cups on the counter as well.

"im already tired of his ass and it's only been a week." i got behind the counter and helped her wipe down the machines before we started using them again.

jalissa and i were always the ones that worked around this time, and then at 10:00 she would leave and then i'd be left to lock up the store, since i have the spare key now. the shop was never too busy for more than two people to be behind the counter, and me and jalissa learnt how to move around each other and handle customers.

we had a few customers come and go, it was a lot less busy as it usually is, almost deserted. i told jalissa she could go home and take care of her daughter, and that i could handle the shop for the rest of the night.

it was nearing 10:30 and i was ready to lock up. i cleaned the shop, locked the registers and got my bag from the back. all i had to do was take out the garbage. i left through the back door towards the dumpster and heard noises. i started walking slower and closer to the wall of the alleyway so that i could barley be seen.

i saw the silhouette of two guys, both skinny and around the same 6'0" height. i hurried up and threw the trash out. i went back at a normal pase and felt rough hands wrap around my neck and force me to the wall.

"hey babygirl," boy number one said. he was brown skinned with brown curly hair and blond tips. he didn't seem to be older than 20 and was attractive to say the least. but i didn't really care about that considering he slammed my ass to the hard ass brick wall of this alleyway. i don't really know if i was more nervous or annoyed because for one, i've been in this situation too many damn times back home, and second, this was L.A. and not the bronx so i didn't really know how they get down over here. i didn't reply to his greeting, i just looked at him unamused with both my hands balled at my sides ready to punch this nigga and his friend if they tried something outta pocket.

"damn no reply? that's rude." he smirked down at me licked his lips, "how much of that little conversation did you hear?" his eyes scanned mine waiting for a response or change of facial expression but i wasn't having it.

"can you get your hands of my neck pretty boy? i'm just tryna get back to work." i looked up at him waiting to feel his hands get off my neck and for him to back up from my personal space.

"shawty," he started, "you didn't answer my question." he moved closer to me so our torsos were touching. if i were to move my head down, my lips would be touching the bottom of his chest.
