I was woken up by a warm ray of light. I glanced to my left, Shini had her back turned on me, it seemed she was still asleep. I realized we were still naked. I decided to stay there, not getting up, not moving, simply staring at Shini's figure or sometimes at the cloudless blue sky.

Looking at Shini's main scar, I wanted to touch it again. I extended my arm to reach it and began carressing it softly. It's understandable Shini would be reticent to show it or uneasy when someone could see it. I personally found it pretty sexy.

"I had it after a failed attempt to escape." She suddenly spoke, making me retreat my arm.

"Sorry, didn't mean to wake you up." I apologized.

"It is fine." She stopped for a few seconds. "I think it was my 10th try, I am not sure."

"You don't need to if-"

"I know." She interrupted me. "But I think I want you to know..." I embraced her from behind. "I wrecked a lot of things that time, destroyed some of their research and files. Important ones. Needless to say I was going to have the worst time of my life if I failed, and I did. I was burned as punishment. But, since our skin is durable enough even in human form, they had to make the heat more intense to try to scar me, as heated as they could." Her voice remained monotone, no hint of anger nor sadness. "They actually spent a lot of time to give me this mark...they had to let me exposed to the flames for hours... At first, it was slightly itching, then I slowly started to feel the heat building up until it came with pain. I remember screaming, begging them to stop... But nobody listened..."

I can't imagine how awful it was. No. I simply don't want to imagine this. Something worth noting is that, for once, Shini sounded calm when speaking about the past, I wasn't used to it.

"It's over now." I told her as the silence was a bother.

"No...not yet. As long as they are still alive, the suffering won't stop."

"You're right..." I murmured.

Shini turned to face me. She looked into my eyes and then smiled.

"I guess we aren't in a hurry. Their time will come. Right now, let's rest a bit more." She came a bit closer, wrapping her arms around me.

"Impressive, you've learned to speak my language." She chuckled which made me smile.

We stayed like this for a few minutes more. She stood up, I did the same and looked at the both of us. "We should probably go take a bath."

"We?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Alright, maybe not together...?"

Shini placed her arms around my neck. "It's not that. I was just thinking that if we do it together, we may repeat our last night's 'session'." I tilted my head before she added. "I don't mind it."

~Time skip as Shini and (Y/N) had fun~

During the bath, Shini told me how things were doing these days. At least I was back to fight along with Shini, she wouldn't do this alone anymore. She was still a bit worried I would suffer a relapse, it was obvious, after all I just woken up yesterday.

We enjoyed the time spent on the island, a peaceful time. It almost felt like a vacation. Especially when you compare it to the daily struggle against giant monsters.

It all came to an end when we saw several aircrafts heading to where the city is located.

"I swear...they are doing it on purpose." Shini spoke up.
