Wish For A Good Fate (Choosing a Destiny Sequel)

CHAPTA 1

A/N: I really liked writing CAD, and I thought of so many ideas for the sequel. So...with a few of them in mind...here's Chapter 1 of Wish For A Good Fate!

I also need some ideas for a series title, just in case this is successful and I wanna write another one :3

Chapter 1- Maya

I tried not to wince at the bright light flashed in my eyes. Caleb was always doing this, waking me up with a flashlight. Normally I would attempt to push him off the bed and tell Mom, but I needed to be awake anyway. Today was Dad's day to visit his friends.

I dressed in a jean jacket with a high waisted skirt, while Caleb was wearing his sports jacket. Mom dressed the baby in some jeans and a snow hat.

It was cold outside like it had been for a while. It was the middle of autumn, and my birthday is in a few days. I'm not old enough, but Caleb's birthday was a month ago, and in just a few short weeks, he will be in the Choosing.

I've always dreamed of being chosen, it looks so much fun. Yet whenever I mention it, Mom and Dad look very sad.

We pulled up to the flatland around the mountain and started walking. Dad says this place used to be guarded, but now is public property. I pulled my hair up to a ponytail to keep the wind from blowing it everywhere. Caleb has a solemn look on his face. Neither Mom, Dad, or Caleb tell me why Dad's friends never arrive here. Dad just gives me a smile and says they're there, but I never see them.

We finally reach the right spot, and for once, some other people are there too. Dad goes over and gives the other man a hug, and introduces Caleb to the man and his wife. Two little girls are standing behind them, like I am standing behind my family. A boy my age is in front and is now shaking hands with Caleb.

"Carlos! You should visit us more," Mom gives the man a hug, and so does Dad. Dad gives his friends "man hugs", yet he actually has tears in his eyes. Why hasn't he shown up before now?

Carlos gestures to the girls behind him. "Drew, these are my daughters Uni and Ari. And my son Henry." Henry gives a smile and turns to look at me.

"My friends call me Peck." He says. I'm too shy to say a word.

"Carlos, this is Caleb, Maya, and our youngest son...um...Marvel." Dad says. I see Carlos has tears in his eyes now. They both look at the stones that were placed in the pile Dad set up. I know not to ask about it, or Dad will start crying again. "Have you heard from Beatrice?"

"Bea? No, I haven't, but I've heard she has a regular job in the city."

"Really? Well that's great for her..."

"Yes."

There's a silence between them, until Carlos's wife bids us a farewell. Mom and Dad look sad to say goodbye, and I do feel bad for them. It's not everyday you see someone else that understands where your friends have gone.

Caleb retreats to his room when we get back home, just like Dad. Mom goes to the kitchen to fix dinner, and I'm left with nothing to do.

I decide to go visit a friend.

"Mom I'm going to visit Kiora!"

"Be back by dinner!"

Kiora and I have a history. Our moms were arguing after she beat me up one day. That may sound weird, but our moms ended up liking eachother until they started fighting worse. Me and Kiora were fighting, and then started liking eachother. We became friends, and I'm still not exactly sure why.

She lives next to the convinient store, and I walk there all the time.

On my way to Kiora's, I stop in to buy a drink. I buy a milkshake, but as I'm walking out I run into someone, who just happens to be an officer.

"I'm so sorry ma'm I didn't see yo-"

"It's fine. Don't talk to me." She said, and she takes a towel and spits in it to wipe off the banana blitz on her shirt.

"Um, okay. Sorry." I say, and I keep on walking.

Yet in the corner of my eye, I see a tattoo just above the officer's ankle. It says "Bea Free". I can't help but wonder as I exit the store and continue on my way.
