Morning- StarbucksThe sweet aroma of Caramel Frappuccinos and artificial flavoring circulated around the bustling little cafe, mesmerizing its guest. My body was frozen from the ice cold bitterness of November. I slowly massaged my stiff leg until the blood started to circulate again. Just glaring at the soft chewy bagels spare that lay lonely in the small case of baked goods near the crowded counter made my parched mouth water.
I peered outwards, twisting my head around the long line; the need for caffeine now consuming my mind. I mindlessly spot an overwhelmed woman, around the age of 28, working the cashier. She had too much makeup on, and I doubt she can remember the natural color of her hair. Her face fixed into a false smile. She goes through the routine questions she asks every customer who visits the cafe; one by one, she hesitantly narrows down the what seemed like an endless line.
The cafe was rather chic, warm and comforting, but at the same time your average cheap french cuisine. Thick, warm amber beams of light drafted in through the large windows that sat on either side of the corner cafe. The chitter chatter of gossiping mothers, and the dinging of bakery ovens echoed in my wool covered ears.
Concerned businessmen and women in a rush sat cozily in the not so comfortable chairs placed carefully around the small cafe, each one paired with a table. I had visited the bakery a couple short times before, and their food always seemed to be somewhat soft and tacky, but I still returned in hope of waking myself from the foggy vision of the night before.
At last, I had arrived at the front of the line, in dangerous need for the consumption of any form of caffeine. The oppressive looking cashier lazily choked the required welcoming she had probably repeated a thousand times before.
"Hello! Welcome to Manhattan Mocha, the menu is listed above and you may request a special menu with our coffee of the day."
I frowned frisky at the unappetizing choices on the menu above.
"Could I have a look at the special menu? If you don't mind." I gushed, eager to inhale the delicious waft of my coffee.
"Sure."
"Thank you!"
Something about the annoyed look on her face told me she did mind. Her fake smile faded quickly as she spun around to grab the menu. She forcefully tugged this, menu, from a passing cashier and practically threw it at me. I was now utterly annoyed, this, "Special Menu" was as unappetizing as the first one.
"I'll take a Pumpkin Spice latte please." I decided, after heavy consideration.
The cashier lady scrunched her face into an annoyed frown and lazily punched some numbers into the cash register.
"Will, that be all for you today?" She groaned glaring at a nearby clock.
"Yes, thank you," I replied, churning out my pockets for any spare change.
I grabbed my drink wistfully, and scuffed out of the busy cafe, into an even busier city.

I shuffled noisily into the quaint library that lay inside my college. The broad daylight did not reach the room. Instead, it was the hanging lights above them that lit the two-tiered hall- almost like a cake mold. The room was filled with murmurs and whispers that floated above the heads of girls and through the roof. They were indistinct conversations between one friend and another, ( Probably gossiping of the party that took place the night before,) quite unable to comprehend the word silence, although, when you thought about it, nothing ever was silent in the room.
