More Than That

Prologue

Before Sawyer or Steve even happen their dad Joe was in the military during one of his leaves he met a girl named Everly Connor they dated for the few months that he was home a few days before he was due to leave for his deployment she found out she was pregnant but they had already broke things off but she found him and let him know. Joe gave her his email address to email him updates. About two months after he left for deployment a girl he was also seeing while he was home that he fell in love with emailed him and said that she was also pregnant but because he loved Sarah he told her the truth and she didn't seem to mind cause they were never exclusively dating cause of his job. 

On April 12th Everly gave birth to his daughter Sawyer Gracelynn Rogers and he was there for the birth and signed her birth certificate and told Everly that he would send her money for whatever she needed for Sawyer. Three months later on July 4th Sarah gave birth to their son Steven Grant Rogers. Joe proposed to Sarah that day and they were married shortly after and he retired from the military life and they settled down in Savannah GA. 

When Sawyer was two years old Everly found him and dropped Sawyer off with him and Sarah and never returned. Sarah accepted Sawyer as her own never once used the word step daughter cause she looked like her dad and it just looked like to outsiders that Sawyer and Steve were brother and sister despite Steve having blonde hair and she had dark hair like Joe. 

When they were four years old the Barnes family moved in next door to them and their son James "Bucky" Buchanan Barnes quickly became friends with Steve. And was mean as ever to Sawyer constantly chasing her with frogs and dead snakes pulling her pigtails stealing her Halloween candy and playing mean tricks on her. 

And then as Sawyer got older she learned to be mean to right back and they would fight more than she would fight with her own brother.
