I felt as if I was Katniss Everdeen after District 12 was destroyed (Most probably wouldn’t remember the movie The Hunger Games, as it was made over 200 years ago, but my dad still had me watch it because it was a classic movie).
I noticed that out of the immense mass of people, I could identify 2 types.
There was one group that felt as if they had an almost magnetic force to me. It was almost as if they were calling me. They were all different kinds of sizes and colors, but they all had one thing in common: Bright green eyes. They were such an eerie evergreen color, they almost looked unnatural.
The second group was mostly men, but some women too, that all were wearing what looked like to be combat gear. They all looked, for the most part, different from each other, except they all had on combat gear and this strange symbol on their arm. It looked like a sideways Z with a line through it. I wondered what those were called. The edges of my eyes started to go dark. But this time I was prepared for it. I quickly dropped down to earth right as the memory began.
"But what are we going to do?" My Dad pleaded. "We can't send her to that horrid place!"
I was eavesdropping as my parents talked in the kitchen. My mom was scrubbing the dishes furiously, tears in her eyes, and my dad was tapping his nails against the kitchen counter. Tap tap tippity tippity tap.
“Do we have a choice?” My Mom choked. “The government, or at least what’s left of it, say we have to!”
“She may be ‘a special,’ but she’s still our daughter! The government is going to do experiments on her. Do you want that to happen to her?”
“I just want what is best for her and our family. If we get caught…oh, I can’t even think about that. Do you really think we can keep her here, hiding from the government?”
“I think that’s our only choice,” Dad whispered. “The Zign is after us, and if they find us..”
I sprinted upstairs before I could hear the ending to that sentence. I’ve never been so scared in my life! Were my parents talking about me?
