As The Rain Comes Down

Chapter 10: After the Storm

Tsukishima's POV
Everything was a blur while he sat in the hospital room. Doctors looked him over and had nurses there to bandage the cuts and put ice on the deep bruises. When he had first arrived he was put through a rape test while his mother was called. He felt his heart pounding in his ears, he didn't know how he felt with having his mother know what happened to him. His hands wrestled in his lap and he couldn't stop shaking his leg. He didn't want his mother to hate him or be mad; he did keep this from her and he could only imagine how upset she will be when she finds out. He could feel the anxiety in his chest.

Kuroo was his other worry. He hasn't seen the captain since he was being hauled into the ambulance. The look on the other boys face pulled at Tsukishima's heart; it was filled with so much worry. He felt miserable about himself. He didn't think Kuroo would act this way about finding out the truth. He expected anger and disgust. Part of him actually wanted Kuroo to yell at him, to hate him, because that's what he felt he deserved.

"Things are going to get better." Tsukki whispered to himself as he looked out the window near his bed. The sun was beginning to set and Tsukishima was glad for that; he is ready for this day to be over.

"Hey." The blond whipped his head around to see Kuroo walking into the room. The captain looked tired.

His eyes were swollen and red still; Tsukki could only assume he hasn't stopped crying. Kuroo had his hands stuffed into the pocket of a grey hoodie and Tsukki could tell that the older boy was shaking a little. He knew that was because of him, he did hurt Kuroo.

"H-hey." Tsukki's voice came out in a whisper.

"Can I sit?" Kuroo asked as he took a hand out and gestured to the cheap hospital chair beside the bed. Tsukki could only nod his head, "How are you feeling?" Kuroo asked, taking a seat.

Tears filled his eyes and a lump formed in his throat. From the moment he arrived at the hospital he was surrounded by doctors and nurses and as soon as they left in came the detectives to check on him. He hadn't fully had a chance to sit with himself and collect his thoughts, and now that his boyfriend was sitting next to him with tears in his own eyes it was hitting him. All of the things that were done to him, the dull aches all over his body becoming more real, and the emotional toll it had taken on his mind. The tears just kept coming, there was no stopping them now.

"Tsukki! It's okay, everything is going to be alright." Kuroo shot up from the chair and moved to sit on the bed. He made sure to keep a respectable distance from the younger boy, he didn't want to make him uncomfortable.

Tsukishima brought his hands up to his eyes and rubbed at the tears, his sobs filled the air, "I-I thought, I thought you were going to hate me."

The way his voice choked and tears just kept coming was breaking Kuroo's heart. He never thought that he would ever see Tsukishima Kei in such a venerable state. He was one of the strongest people Kuroo knew and to see him crumble to this state was killing him. Tsukki looked so frail and thin in the hospital gown. The redness in his face stood out against the paleness of his skin.

"Tsukki, may I touch you?" Kuroo's voice was soft and all Tsukki could manage in return was a small nod.

Kuroo reached out and pulled the younger boy into his arms. Kuroo made sure not to squeeze too hard, just in case there were bruises on his back. Tsukki remained slack in the older boys' arms; he just wanted to feel Kuroo holding him. The tears slowly stopped and for the first time in a while Tsukishima felt safe.
