You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. . .
you make me happy when skies are gray. . .

"Harry."

"Oh, Del. She's alive! Get help!"

Harry held me tighly in his arms, careful to cradle my head against his chest. I savored the warmth radiating from his body, my skin felt like ice. I was numb all over.

"Harry, I c-can't. . . move."

"Shh, don't say anything. They're coming to get you now, everything's okay. You're okay."

It sounded as if he was trying to convince himself more than me. I could hear his voice crack in places, though he did well in trying to hide it. But why wouldn't I be okay? I'm fi-

Suddenly I coughed, and I felt a warm liquid spill over my lips. Harry quickly sat my up, patting gently on my back. When my fit was through, I saw his green eyes go wide. "Oh my gosh. Someone please! She's coughing up blood!" Blood?

"Delilah, look at me." He held my face in his hand, turning me to face him. My heart broke in two when I saw the tear threatening to spill over. "You're not leaving me, not now. Stay awake, hun. Don't close your eyes."

Okay, I answered. The words only sounded in my mind. My mouth wouldn't open for me to speak them, or tell him what I really wanted to say. I love you, Harry. I won't go anywhere.

You never know, dear, how much I love you. . .

It suddenly became very difficult for me to keep my eyes open, my eyelids were too heavy. Each time I tried, the more they closed. No, I can't die! Not now.

"Don't do this to me, Delilah. Please!"

Please don't take my sunshine away. . .

My eyes closed.

It was the third time Delilah Chase was picking up her drunk boyfriend from the bar.

It was the first time Harry Styles had ever felt so protective over a girl.

Bar fights were something he lived for, the adrenaline was such a rush. The squabble he noticed in the parking lot had him pushing up his sleeves in anticipation. But his plans changed when a blonde head caught his eye. A young woman desperately trying to fend off her violent and obviously intoxicated boyfriend, and failing miserably.

❝He was only the bouncer, is was his job to help me.❞

One punch was all it took for the other man to hit the pavement. One moment was all it took for Harry to have such a strong, inexplicable connection with a little stranger.

A/N: I'm super excited this fanfic! It's about Harry Styles (obviously). And it's also AU, meaning you don't have to be part of the fandom or even really like 1D to read it.  But anyway, give it some love with comments, votes, fans, etc. Thanks loves!
