'What the hell?' I think to myself. One moment I'm sleeping on my bed, then next I'm in a field full of people.'Where am I... why is everybody dressed up like that?!'everything is getting weirder and weirder by the second.
"GARROTH WHAT ARE YOU DOING STANDING AROUND LIKE THAT?!" I hear a familiar voice through all the battle cries and swords stabbing people.
"Laurance..." I said softly. He seemed pissed. Irene, I am so confused...
Laurence head towards me. He grabbed me by the arm, where wounded men were being treated. "look, this isn't time for stupid jokes. You of all people should know that!" He angrily lectured me.
I didn't know how to react, so I apologized "I'm sorry?" Seriously what was going on?
His face softened and placed his hand on my face. "Just be careful out there, ok?"
"O-ok" I repeated. Laurance was acting weird. Sure he's physical but he doesn't just touch my face like that. So I couldn't help getting shocked and a little flustered.
Soon we went back to fighting, I tried to copy some of the moves i saw in movies. It wasn't any good though, I'm so grateful I had this armor on. I was also still reluctant to kill anyone. Most of the time I tried my best to just knock them out.
I spotted laurance fighting someone but saw another guy heading towards him. One moment I was staring in horror the next my legs moved on their own. 'What the hell am I doing? I'm going to get myself killed.'
As the guy was about to hit laurance he turned around and I took a giant swing. I slashed that guy. I hear him cry in pain before going limp, definitely killing him. "Nice one!" Laurance complement, grateful that I saved him.
I stared at horror. I just killed a man.. 'No, he was trying t kill your bestfriend! You are justified.' I looked up from the body, not wanting to see it any longer than I already did. I turned my attention to laurance "N-no problem.."
After what seemed like forever we won and they, who ever they were retreated and everyone was cheering. But then a man came forth and asked, "What should we do with the men who are still alive? And our men who died?"
"That's a good question..." Laurence said, then looked to me , "so what do you think we should do?" He asked me for my input.
"Well..." I thought about it. What would be the best choice of action. "If we have enough supplies, treat to their wounds as if it were our men" everyone and even Laurence looked at me in shock on my response. "They'll be our prisoners" the men nodded in understandment, but still a little confused. "Or train them as our own" I finished. Trying my best to sound like i knew i was doing
"But General, they're our enemies, why would we-" one men said, but Laurence stopped him from continuing
"Enough." He looked at me, with the same unsure expression as the other men had that wasn't outraged. "I'm sorry, Garroth, I have to agree with them. I know you have a big heart, but this is war. We can't just keep everyone, we don't have that kind of supplies to keep up with more people than we already have."
"That's not it! If we have people from their side that can join us, we'll eventually outnumber them." I explained, following up with hypothetical situation. I was remembering some war tactics I learned through history, but maily movies and shows. Maybe even from D&d. "Giving us more chance to win, and if people see that we are in the winning side, they'll want to join us. With more alliances, the more support we'll get."
Laurence smiled, I guess he liked my reasoning. "ok, general." But then looked at the field, "still we should do with the bodies, there's so much. Do think we should just big a ditch and-"
"No, those men fought and died with honor, we can't just do that" I sternly said. I wasn't going to let their families find out their sons, husband, friend was dead and just left in a ditch. Not even giving them proper burials. "Check to see if they have anything valuable, for us to reuse or anything they had that can be given to their families. Then, burn them, separately. So we'll only have to worry about keeping the fire in control. After that, place their ashes in boxes. When we return, give them the box and items to their families. " I instructed.
"Yes, general." Laurance said, flashing a small grin. I sighed, letting go the breath I didn't realized I was holding. Man who knew my dnd campaign would be very useful in these situations.
