first date

Patty's pov

    My face is bright red. I steal a glance at Ben, who looks completely normal.
    "Any ideas?" Ben brings me back to earth. I don't know where to go at all, and I don't think my brain is going to process right for a while... "Patty. Patty. Patty!" Ben is waving his hands in my face. Oops. Looks like I froze in place.
    "We can go to Churchill Square, and hang around?" I spit out. Ben laughs. I'm still frozen, and I think he knows my legs won't go anywhere.
    "Come here, sunshine." Ben swiftly picks me up and puts me on his back before I can process what happened. He starts walking in the direction to the shopping center. I lay my head on his shoulder without thinking about it. I realize what I had done once it was too late.  I let the warm breeze graze my hair as my body sways with Ben's.  I start to doze off...

Ben's pov

As I walk down the street with Patty on my back, I can't help but wonder what he's thinking.  I have a strange connection with him, and I think I understand it more than he does.  I have a wife though, so I don't really know who I like better.  I've been in a couple fights with her over how much time I spend with Alistair, Foley, and especially Patty.  Georgina seems jealous, and I'm sick of her telling me who I can spend time with.
"What?"  I stop walking for a second to focus in on the strange sound traveling into my ear.  I turn my head as much as possible to find Patty taking a snooze on my shoulder.  His face is so cute when he's asleep.  Then again, when is his face not cute?  I boop his nose and he immediately wakes up. 

Patty's pov

"Huh?  W-what?"  I forgot I fell asleep on Ben.  He's really comfortable.  "You are my pillow now."  I whisper into his ear.  Ben laughs and it sounds nice.  Soft and sweet.
"I hope I can live up to my job as a pillow from now on.  Do I get paid?"  He asks.  All I say is 'pillow' and I lay my head back on his shoulder.  I watch the sidewalk go by as Ben walks along the side. A small black dog trots along, and the owner is staring at us. I look away and bury my face in Ben's shoulder.
    "Are we there yet? I'm hungry. You stole my snack!" I whisper.
    "Five more minutes, hang in there. Where do you want to eat?"
    "I don't care I just want food!"
    "Oh, Patty..." Ben sighs. We then walk in silence the rest of the way to the shopping center.

Ben's pov

    "Hey Aurora, feel like waking up from your beauty sleep and help me out by walking? My back kinda hurts." I poke Patty, who, lucky me, fell asleep again. He jolts awake and I stumble a bit. "Hey, I'm going to end up falling!"
    "Oops, sorry Ben!" Patty jumps off my back and gives me a quirky little smile. Oh, he's so cute... "Let's go to the Cheesecake Factory!" I start walking and Patty grabbed my hand and jumped up next to me.
"I'm hungryyyyyyy! Ben, I'll get you back for stealing my snack!" Patty mumbles. I smile back at him.

Patty's pov

We follow the waitress through the booths and tables to a small table for two by the window. I sit across from Ben.
"Any ideas what you would like to drink?" The waitress asks. Ben looks at me.
"What do you want, Patty? It's on me." I look at the drink menu. I don't drink alcohol, so half this menu is out.
"I'll have a Shirley Temple please." I tell the waitress.
"I'll have an iced tea please." Ben says.
"Okay, they'll be right up!" She smiles and walks away. Ben looks at the food menu and starts laughing.
"What's so funny?" I ask. Ben turns his menu towards me.
"Spicy Vegan Patty!" Ben chuckles. "You're in the menu Patty!" I blush. Ben takes my hand from across the table. "Can we call this our first date?" He suddenly gets serious.
"Sure, Ben."
"Okay sunshine."
