I lay in the hospital bed with Dr.Greg placing blue jelly on my stomach. He placed the ultrasound device on that area circling it around searching for a heart beat.
"There's no internal bleeding thank god" he said " is there a heart beat" he continued to search I trying to stay calm as possible. Tears rolled down my face as I thought how all of this happened what I could've done to stop it. Part of me begins to regret even saying anything. Ruby would still be alive, Andre wouldn't be clinging to life , and I wouldn't be pregnant. What kind of -

Both Dr.Greg and I became alert as the heart grew louder. I cupped my hands over my eyes as I wept with joy " it seems your baby is fine , I still want to keep you overnight to monitor if that's alright" Dr.Greg said " that's fine with me" Dr.Greg nodded wiping the gel off my belly soon after he left the room
I sat up rubbing my belly thanking god the baby is alright. I looked in the near by mirror at how beat up I am. " how are you still alive" I said to myself. I cleaned my face off gathering myself together. I walked out the room to see Zac waiting
"Judging on Dr.Gregs face the baby is alright" I nodded yes , Zac let out a sigh of relief " I don't think I can handle another death" he said " I don't think I can either" Zac stares at me for a while "I wanted to apologize to you for thinking less because of your occupation... what you did here is heroic you have opened eyes to many"
I looked down at my feet " miss ruby" I spoke through tears " is not your fault ok things were coming to a head things got out of control, the good thing is James is now in custody ... anyways let's go to the cafeteria you need to eat something" every emotion has been such a high I realized I haven't eaten

The night went on the morning came , Dr. Greg was nice enough to give me hospital room so Jermey Zac and I crashed. One of the nurses tapped me on the shoulders " Miss... Detective Andre has been out of surgery for a couple of hours now he's now awake and wants to see you" immediately I got angry
"He's been out of surgery your just now telling us" I said " Dr.Greg advised to let you sleep to allow you and the baby rest... "he also wanted you to change out of this dress so he got you this" I went into the bathroom to change . Once I walked out

I let out a sigh Zac and Jermey stood up " no he just wants to see her if that's ok" said the nurse Zac and Jermey nodded I walked out the room
My heart pounded the closer I got to his room, I stopped in my tracks the nurse became alert " oh are you ok" she asked " be honest how bad does he look" the nurse smiled " he just has a few scratches and bruises of course bandage around his wound.
We continued walking until we finally got to his room the nurse motioned me to walk in ...there laid Andre looking at the window. "Detective" I called his eyes shot over to me " Q..Que...Qu" he tried to speak
I sat in the chair next to him " I'm here I'm here" "Waa..wat....wwaaa" I realize he was talking about water , I rushed over to the water pitcher to pour him a glass, I rush back over to him gently placing the glass to his mouth. He stuggled with a few drops of water fell on his hospital gown he managed to drink the water
Once he was done , his eyes stared into mine "how are you" hearing his voice sent chills down my spine, deep smooth like butter " I've never cried this much in my life .... I don't see how I still have any tears left." I said as a tear fell " you are too beautiful to be in this much heart break" Andre cooed which made me cry harder " Andre I'm always in heart break"
Andre slowly placed his hand on mine " lay with me" he said " what no Andre your hurt" " so are you .... lay with me" I let out a sigh scoping out the best place to lay with out hurting him. I walked to the other side of the bed slowly trying to climb in "OUCH" he screamed " WHAT WHAT" I jumped out of the bed he started laughing "ANDRE DONT DO THAT ITS NOT FUNNY" I cried "I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that please lay with with me"
I slowly got into bed with him gently laying my head on his chest , Andre wrapped his arm around me , it was silent for a bit as we listen to each other's breathing
" dr. Greg said the baby is fine" " the nurse told me it was one of the first things I asked when I woke up" I slightly looked up at Andre " really , what's the other thing you asked" " I asked where you were if your ok then I asked if the baby is fine the nurse she it's in good health and you were resting on doctors orders, I said good"
The room fell silent again
Andre pov
I look down at Queenie , " baby , things are about to get even messier and you need to get out of this city" Queenie perked up " I? What about you" she asked " I need to handle things here first but as for now I need you and our baby safe" " NO ANDRE , IM NOT LEAVING" I sit up staining in pain as I do but it didn't matter " QUEENIE, now is not the time to be stubborn you not the baby doesent need any more teams" Queenie looks me in the eye " then don't send me away just so I can worry and wonder if you'll be ok , now is not the time to be splitting up especially after all that's happened, we all we got ... so I'm not leaving the city of Philadelphia unless your by my side"
There's not winning with her so I compromised " at least let me put you in a better place than my apartment" Queenie smiled " as long as your there with me" I leaned kissed her sucking on her bottom lip " mmm baby don't do that" she cooed " don't worry as soon as this is over I'm putting a second baby in you" I laughed as Queenie hit me on the shoulder
" seems like things are normal for you two huh?" Queenie and I both looked up to see Zac and Jermey standing in the doorway " listen Andre the next time you wanna have secret investigations and relationships tell me so I'm not looking like boo boo the fool" Zac inform " I'm sorry but I didn't think you'd understand" I said
" water under the bridge man I'm just glad your alright" Zac walked over to give a dap " listen I need you to to my apartment get Kirby and jinx and take them to the water mark hotel" Zac nodded headed out the door Jermey stood motionless " I'll go catch up with Zac" Queenie said she kissed me on the lips one last time before heading out the door

Jermey sat down in the chair next to me " we have to cremate mom" Jermey started " I don't want dad or any of the media near her" I quietly nodded " why didn't you tell me this was going on" he asked " because I needed to be sure... I needed all the facts" Jermey got up from his chair in anger " HOW COULD HE DO THIS TO MOM TO US" he yelled
I wanted to calm him down but the same rage he's feeling I'm feeling too , do shot mom like she's nothing to him " the best thing we can do now is remember mom we'll deal with dad when the time comes" Jermey turned back around with tears in his eyes. It's like see my little brother who was scared of the monsters in his closet ... this time the monster is dad
Jermey laid his head in my lap and wept as did I " he will have his day brother he will have his day I promise"
