We finally made it to land. I couldn't find my parents on the lifeboat so I tried again when we were on land. I looked for ages and there was no luck. I sat on the sand and put my head in my hands. I felt someone come and hug me. I look up and see Jason.
"Alaia come with me" he says. I look at him weirdly but follow him. I see my mother crying with Joe and his parents.
"What's going on? Mum where were you?" I say confused. Tears filled my eyes.
"Alaia-" Joe says hugging me.
"What-" I say.
"Your father is gone" my mum says.
"Wait what do you mean gone" I say.
"They can't find him they think he fell off of the ship when he was trying to get onto the lifeboat" she says as she bursts into tears.
"Nono" I say but end up bursting into tears too.
"That's not true he's alive" I say.
"I'm soo sorry" Joe's mum says to me. I hug my mum. This can't be real he can't be gone. It's too soon. We start to hear noise above us and see helicopters. They land and everyone gets into them. Mine and Joe's family go into one helicopter. I sit next to Joe. I look on my phone and see my eyes puffy. I looked a mess. All of my clothes are gone. I don't really care about that but also I just lost my dad. I lean onto Joe and cry more. He kisses my forehead. I definitely love him.
We stay on the helicopter for what felt like ages but then we finally landed at an airport? I was really confused and so was Joe.
"Why are we at an airport?" I ask my mum.
"We're going home" She says.
"Wait no I don't want to go home I want to stay with Joe" I say hugging him not letting go.
"Come on hunny we have no where to stay" she says. She does have a point.
"We have no where to stay too so we have to go home" Joe's mum says.
"We're going back to Washington?" Joe says.
"Yes" His mum says looking at him and Jason. We walk off of the helicopter and wait to get our last minute tickets. Me and Joe wouldn't let go of each other. People around probably thought we were crazy. Our flight was in 2 hours and so was Joe's. Me and Joe and Jason went around the airport to spend the last 2 hours together before we had to go. We went to the Starbucks and Jason ordered for us as we went to find a table.
"I wish I could take you on a real date" he says.
"I wish so too" I say as Jason comes back with our drinks.
"I'll call you both everyday" I say.
"Can we FaceTime and play fortnite too?" Jason says. I laugh.
"Yes" I say. Jason takes out his phone and takes a picture of our drinks and posts it on snapchat.
"Ughh I forgot I don't have a phone anymore" Joe says.
"Why?" I ask.
"It probably doesn't work since it was in the ocean" he says getting out his phone which was soaking wet.
"Try it" I say. He tries to turn it on but no luck.
"He can use my phone when he calls you" Jason says.
"And I have a laptop so I can call you on there" Joe says. We all walk to subway with our drinks and Jason also orders for us there too. We all got our own subs. We ate them and then went back to our parents who were waiting for us.
"It's time to go" my mum says.
"Already?" I say. She nods.
I hug Joe's family and when I went to Joe I wouldn't let go. I kiss him. He holds me.
"I love you" he says.
"I love you too" I say for the first time. He kisses me again for the last time. Tears roll down both of our faces.Then we both parted ways and I went onto my plane and he went onto his. That was the last time I saw him. The whole plane ride home I couldn't stop thinking about him. I couldn't wait to go home and call him.
