Francis watched among the crowd that had gathered for what they called a "cleansing" but to Francis was disguised murder. Arthur, the boy who France had raised was speaking about why they were burning "the witch." As the other country looked around he found Francis, and have him the most apologetic look that Francis would ever see. Francis only have him a look of pure hate. They both knew damn well that the English country would never be forgiven. Knowing that, he still lit the fire to burn her, as he continuously whispered "I'm sorry" to her and the French man who couldn't hear him.

The crowd cheered as the flames began to spread of her body, and Francis watched horrified that the other had actually done it. Tears silently flowed out of his eyes and down his face. Arthur still whispered I'm sorry. Francis wondered why? Why was Arthur apologizing? Why did it have to end like this? Why did it have to end with flames? Why couldn't he burn with her, or better yet, burn instead of her?...Why was history so cruel?

Then, just like that, the scene faded, as blue eyes snapped open to meet darkness. It was just a dream, but it was that dream again. The same dream that replayed every night to haunt him, since that day. Francis rolled to his side, and cried loudly into his pillow. He cried until there were no tears left to escape. He sat up and turned towards the clock. 11:08 PM , May 29. Tomorrow was the anniversary of her death. Francis wanted something good to finally come out of this day.

At 5:50 AM, Arthur Kirkland arrived at Francis's house. Today, like so many years in the past, he'd be watching Francis, to make sure nothing bad would happen. He knocked on the door. It was silent for five minutes before Arthur went to get the key out of the rose bush in the Frenchman's yard. Upon opening the door, he was greeted by much to many wine bottles, and upon following them to Francis's room, he found a body with longish blond hair. The body appeared to be clutching a picture of a girl with short hair, no doubt was she from the fourteen hundreds. Arthur was both sorry, and happy for the man who was like a father to him Francis ended his life by alcohol poisoning to be with Joan of Arc on May 30, 2015.
