Dear Cleo,
For the past entries I’ve been writing a whole lot about Ian, so I decided to write nothing more about him. I’ve had enough with his drama of avoiding me and pretending that I don’t exist. I’m a human to, Cleo. I have my limits. If he doesn’t want me to be his friend anymore, so be it! As far as I’m concerned, he’s good as dead!!
Humph! Anyway, I won’t be wasting any more of my precious ink on him! I’ll jus tell you what happened this afternoon.
Mrs. Gouidann, our History teacher, wants us to write a report about America’s National heroes. I decided to have Mr. Martin Luther King as my hero. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not black, I’m white just like the kid who screams Joseph Jonas name at the corner of the street. Hah. Seriously, I think Mr. King is a really nice guy. He fought for the diminishing of racial discrimination even if he knew that it could cost him his life. And it did. He got assassinated^^.
Anyway, when I was reading an article from an old newspaper at the library, guess who suddenly turns up at my side? It’s Ethan Mercer! He offered to lend me a hand in my report. I immediately said yes without thinking much about it. Ian and I used to do our reports together but…sorry about that. Where was I? Oh, right, Ethan. We agreed to finish my report tonight. I’m meeting him at Mercer’s delight. It’s their family restaurant. We were going to make it together with his cousin, Elena. She’s a girl in my English class. We know each other by name and face but that’s all there is.
I’m not sure what to wear. If this was a date I would likely wear something fancy, but if he thinks that it’s just another get together then I’m doomed if I do that. Sigh. I guess I’ll just go with the usual shirt and jeans. I better prepare. He’s expecting me at 6. I’ll fill you up with the information later.
Wish me luck!
Joan
P. S. hope it works out!
10:45 pm
I just finished changing into my Pj’s. I’m tired but I really can’t wait to tell you everything so here it goes.
Mr. Johns dropped me by Mercer’s Delight. He told me that he was going to pick me up by 10. When I arrived there, I wasn’t expecting to see so many people in the restaurant. Ethan mentioned earlier that during weekdays, there usually were a small number of customers. The peak days were usually from Friday to Sunday, since it’s the weekend.
Anyhow, the restaurant tonight was a full pack. Some group of college students who came from Chicago were in town for a conference and they decided to eat dinner at the most welcoming and homey restaurant in town, the Mercer’s delight.
I went in and started looking for Ethan. The restaurant was so busy and the college students were having a ruckus as they waited for their orders. I headed for the counter to ask for Ethan. Edward, Ethan’s younger brother, was on the counter. He also went to the same summer camp and was a year younger than me.
