Karlie hears a knock on her door. It was pouring outside and late at night. Karlie wonders who could be knocking this late at night. She opens it to see Taylor soaking wet her once beautiful navy dress ruined. There are tears streaming down Taylor's face.
"Can I come in?" Taylor says through sobs.
Karlie pulls Taylor into a hug and into the apartment.
"I didn't know where else to go."
"What happened?" Karlie asks.
"Tom" is all Taylor can get out before she breaks down in tears again.
"That cheating backstabbing conniving asshole. Mind my language. What did he do this time?" Karlie spits.
"He said he didn't love me anymore and that he was only with me for the press now"
"Oh, Taylor," Karlie says while pulling Taylor closer to her and holding her while she cries.
Karlie moves her and Taylor to the couch and they sit down Karlie's arms still wrapped around Taylor.
"You can stay here for the night," Karlie tells Taylor noticing that the singer was in no shape to go home.
Karlie leads Taylor to her bedroom getting Taylor an old t-shirt and some small shorts. Handing the clothes to a red-eyed Taylor. Karlie leaves the room so Taylor can change. Karlie patiently waits outside her door until Taylor tells her it's ok to come in. Karlie cautiously opens the door to see Taylor sitting in her bed. Karlie grabs some pajamas and goes into her bathroom to change. When she comes out of the bathroom she goes to tuck Taylor in. Taylor has moved to the right side of the bed leaving a big space for Karlie. Karlie pulls up the blanket for Taylor to crawl under. Taylor slowly gets under the blanket. Karlie begins to walk out of the room to sleep on her couch.
"Stay? Please" Taylor whispers.
Karlie debates whether or not she should stay. Seeing the broken look on Taylor's face convinced Karlie that she should stay. Karlie crawled into bed with Taylor moving to the other side of the bed as far away from Taylor as possible not wanting to make things awkward. Karlie lies down facing Taylor.
"Thank you for doing this" Taylor softly says.
"I will always do this you're my best friend" Karlie responds.
Karlie watches as Taylor's breathing shallows and her eyes start to close. Karlie's eyes are starting to get droopy as well. Both girls peacefully fall asleep.
Sun is creeping in through the windows in Karlie's bedroom. Karlie's feels something snuggled into her side. When she looks she sees that it is Taylor. All of last night's events flooded back to her. She clearly remembers the broken look in Taylor's normally shining sky blue eye's when she showed up. Taylor is snuggled into Karlie and Karlie's arms are wrapped around Taylor protectively holding her. Karlie had never slept this well her whole life. She was always waking up throughout the night, but with Taylor that didn't happen. Karlie tries very hard to detach herself from Taylor without waking up Taylor. Just as Karlie has successfully removed herself from Taylor she wakes up.
"No Karlie don't go" Taylor worriedly says.
"I'm not going anywhere, Taylor. I'm just making us some breakfast. Don't worry I will never leave you" Karlie sweetly replies. "Just go back to sleep"
Karlie walks down the stairs finally realizing just how much Taylor gets left and how much it affects her. Karlie had never thought about how many heartbreaks Taylor has had. Taylor had just always seemed like such a giant ball of life that it never occurred to Karlie that Taylor has heartbreak too. Karlie looks in her fridge for stuff to eat for breakfast realizing that she only has vegan food. Karlie knows that Taylor really is in need of some comfort food so she makes pancakes from scratch with chocolate chips. When she pours the batter on to the skillet she makes it into to heart for Taylor. She makes many more pancakes even trying to make a cat but it didn't turn out quite right. Karlie puts some pancakes on a plate with some fresh fruit and syrup for Taylor. Karlie carries the plate to her bedroom where Taylor is still peacefully sleeping. Karlie gently shakes Taylor awake. Taylor sits up and sees the pancakes. Giving Karlie a small smile Taylor takes the pancakes and thanks Karlie for everything she has done for her. Taylor's eyes have regained a little of their usual light but she still looks heartbroken. Karlie sits down next to Taylor eating pancakes with her even though she is basically vegan. Taylor gets to the failed cat pancake and gives a small laugh.
"Is this supposed to be a cat?"
"Are you making fun of my cooking?" Karlie jokes.
Karlie doesn't care that her cat turned out bad she just cares that she made Taylor smile. Karlie and Taylor just sit on Karlie's bed in comfortable silence. Until Taylor breaks the silence.
"When do you want me to leave?" Taylor says.
Never Karlie thinks, but she says " Stay as long as you need."
"I need to do something about my cats. They are probably so hungry." Taylor says.
"We can go back to your apartment if you want," Karlie replies.
"Ok" Taylor timidly says.
Taylor calls her security to take them to her apartment. When they arrive at Taylor's apartment there is luckily no paparazzi, because that would have only made things worse. They walk into Taylor's apartment and are immediately greeted by two hungry cats. Meredith and Karlie have taken quite a liking to each other since Karlie has known Taylor which apparently is rare, so it makes Karlie feel special. Taylor goes into her pantry to get out two cans of Fancy Feast for her cats. Meredith and Olivia start meowing like crazy when they see the cans come out. After the cats have been fed Karlie leads Taylor to the couch. Karlie turns on the TV. She opens Netflix and they start watching Taylor's favorite, Law and Order. Taylor and Karlie are curled up on Taylor's couch together silently watching Law and Order which Karlie doesn't even like but will watch just for Taylor when a knock sounds at the door. Karlie gets up off the couch to go answer the door. When she opens the door she sees Tree Taylor's publicist on the other side.
"Karlie, what are you doing here?" Tree asks very surprisedly.
"I'm here for Taylor what are you doing here?" Karlie says concern evident in her voice.
"It's Tom, he posted on twitter about him and Taylor's break up. I came to tell Taylor" Tree says.
"I don't think that is the best idea. I mean look at her" Karlie says while pointing at Taylor.
Taylor is just staring at the TV. Her eyes look incredibly broken and Karlie just wants to take all her pain away.
"I'll be back later then," Tree says walking out of Taylor's apartment.
Karlie walks back over to Taylor giving her a big hug.
"What did Tree want?" Taylor says worry evident in her voice.
"Nothing everything's fine" Karlie reassures Taylor.
Karlie's phone rings. Looking at her phone she sees it's Josh calling. Karlie totally forgot about meeting up with Josh for lunch today.
"Karlie where are you?" Josh says without any worry in his voice.
"I'm with Taylor. Tom broke up with her." Karlie says upset that Josh didn't even care that she wasn't there.
"Ok, I'll see you another time," Josh says nonchalantly.
"It's ok if you need to go be with Josh" Taylor quietly says.
"No, I'm not going to be with Josh. You are far more important. I mean I think Josh doesn't even love me anymore. He never says I love you. He never shows any emotion. He also hasn't done any nice romantic gesture in so long. Sorry, I'm ranting about myself and your the one that got broken up with" Karlie says.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Taylor worriedly asks.
"I'm supposed to be helping you" Karlie replies.
"It will take my mind off things" Taylor responds.
"Let's do something fun to take our minds off things" Karlie suggest. "We could have a party and invite all of our friends. We could get drunk and just forget."
"That sounds like a great idea" Taylor responds happily.
