You could hear it. The yelling, the screaming, the cheering. You could feel it through the floor. The excitement, the sadness. The arena was split down the middle. The left holding the rich and glamorous, they drank dark wine out of their gold goblets. Only one side wanted fairness. I walked slowly onto my balcony that hangs over the arena field, clenching onto my dress breathing in deeply. Although the arena was made out of cement you can still feel the rhythm of my peoples feet stomp on the ground. I am only 17, my skin was the shade of caramel, my hair black as onyx and curly as a pigs tail. I inherited many things: My mothers curves, my fathers wisdom, and my peoples kindness. I grew up with those who don't back down, who worked for everything they had. And I intended on continuing that trait. I got close to the entrance onto the balcony, light from the sun was shining bright on another unjust day. I walked out onto the balcony taking in the scenery but, I cannot waste time. My guards stood on either side of me very still waiting for anything to happen.

On the other side of the arena. The  prince stepped onto his balcony, he had his eyes on me, and only on me. As handsome as he was I know the history of his family. And I would rather stay in my own lane than to join his. He had wavy light brown hair, his skin was beautiful and ivory, dark ocean blue eyes that were just polarizing. He had this smirk on his face only his father could do so similarly. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've seen that smirk in our darkest moments.

I raised my arms in the air to signal my people to quiet their voices. Which was almost instant. On the other hand the pales did not. In fact they got louder.

"My people of Marfel. I stand here proud to be the new heir to my mothers throne."

"May she rest in peace." My people said in unison.

"She did us well, and I will continue that wellness throughout our kingdom. Although we have been divided for reasons only one side of this arena could explain, I would like to come together. To bring peace to this unjust, and live a life of unity."

The prince chuckled.

"Your name princess?" He looked at me with that idiotic smirk.

"Gisela. And that's Queen to you." I was taken aback, he forgot my name? We spent a lot of time together as children. My parents wanted me to have a friend, even if they meant his father was an evil, sadistic man.

The rich was silenced.

"Gisela. For a very long time my father has ran his kingdom perfectly."

"May he rest in peace." His people said in unison.

"Unity comes down to people, not us. The choices by are us are nothing if the people have no say in it." he crossed his arms as his people cheered

"You're hilarious in the way you try to twist my words and history." I looked at him imitating his smirk.

"For decades you have treated my people like cow manure and you think for maybe a minute in that time frame all we wanted was to be treated like you? Or maybe wanted to just be equal? But, I guess your kind don't think like that." I smiled and chuckled as my people stood up and cheered.

"Look King, let us keep this meeting short and sweet. All my people want is unity and if yours does not want that, then we really know who the problem is." I turned around and walked off the balcony. down the hall you could still hear the cheering from my people.

"Well that was a bold statement." My assistant Mercy walked with me.

"I had to get my point across. And it's true all we want is to live in unity and yet, they refuse." I walked fast to my carriage.

The ride back to the castle was interesting. Now that I'm queen I have this feeling of authority. Even though I'm the youngest ever in my line,I do not feel that I am. But at the same time, I feel alone. For decades my family has maintained the throne, kept it neat and polished. According to the elders, my mother was the best out of all the other women before her. What if I mess it up? What if I royally mess up, what am I supposed to do? What if..

"Your highness we are at the Palace." My assistant stood outside the carriage door keeping it open for me.

"Th-thank you you." I picked up my dress  as I stepped out of the carriage with my guards helping me.

My dress was red, a very big dress with silver sequins making it shine. Similar to the dress my mother wore when she first went to the arena to announce her plans. As I got closer to the entrance the big door swung open revealing the beautiful interior.

"Your Highness.. uhm" my guard came up to me hesitantly.

"Whats wrong?" I questioned him.

"The King is here my Queen." He said quickly.

"Of the Rich?" my eyes widened.

"Yes my Highness." he bowed his head.

"Of all that's holy..."

"He demanded to meet you my highness. He is being watched in your room." He kept his head bowed.

I sighed.

"Thank you my guard."

"Your highness we need to get ready for dinner, we still have your dresses in your changing room. Upstairs to the left." my assistant directed me.

I picked up my dress and headed upstairs to my changing room, I picked out a black dress with sequins on it, it was very slim fitting on me but why not, It's my first day as a actual queen, I might as well dress the way I see fit.

After I changed, I walked swiftly to my room. What could he want.

I opened my door and motioned my guards out. I wanted to talk to him alone.

He was at my vanity mirror looking at my things.

"What do you want." I hissed.

"Feisty much?" he gave me that stupid smirk looking at my mothers necklace,I swiftly walked towards him and took the precious necklace out of his hands and back into my jewelry box, locking it.

"Look, if you are here to talk to me about something unethical then you can leave."

"Oh it's very ethical." he crossed his legs.

I crossed my arms and looked at him.

"Well first you should stop resisting me." he copied me crossing his arms, coping me slowly standing up.

"Resisting?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Do not play dumb with me, I know you're smart." He paced around me, then leaned on my bed.

"Out with it." I rolled my eyes.

"You talk about unity, you talk about combining our kingdoms, well if you want that so bad why don't you just act on it?"

"One does not just act on it. Yes I do want unity and to be one kingdom again, but acting on it is a whole other story. Since when are you so opened minded to the theory? Your father--"

"My father was a monster, that I can admit. I am nothing like my father, but he did run his kingdom very finely. "

"How are you and him different then?"

He smirked and stood up, walking to me slowly looking into my eyes, I slowly stepped back

"What are you doing?"

"Calm down." he said softly slowly putting his hands on my waist.

My eyes widened as he basically sucked the breath out of me. He leaned down slowly.

"Unlike my father, I don't care if you're rich or poor." he whispered in my ear and slowly took his hands off me, and walked to the door.

"Think about it." he said softly as he opened the door and closed it behind him.

I stood there trying to think straight, I just couldn't.

What was there to think about?
