Lacey's POV
Since I was a child, no one new moved into our little town. Due to our reputation, no one dared to move in, which left a lot of houses empty and run down. Home investors did try to get people to stay, but even if someone looked at they house, the moment they knew what happened here, they ran. On my street alone, there were 12 houses and only four of them were occupied. My best friend Jason lived across the street and the other two houses were owned by Bob who owned the car shop and Clarissa who was the towns head radio station host. So seeing a moving van outside was not something seen very often and got people talking.

I didn't hear about it until Jason came knocking on the door early on a Saturday morning, which at the time I did not appreciate. Saturday's are my mornings where I don't have to go to church or school, so I sleep in. I was very happy that he knocked though. Once he told me the news, we sat upstairs, looking down at her moving in. She was all alone lifting heavy things so I thought maybe we should go down and help. Jason was more than happy to help.

We walked downstairs and outside to where she was and immediately my heart started beating. She was beautiful. She had long curly locks of blonde hair that sat on her shoulders. She was tall and yet she looked like she had been working out since she was 6. She eyes were a beautiful brown color with a tiny hint of gold and made them look as if they were glowing. Everything about her was absolutely beautiful and I found myself getting lost in it.

Of course Jason noticed this a nudged me with his elbow. I looked at him nervously and he decided he would speak for us. "Hi! I'm Jason. This is Lacey. We are your neighbors. We came over to see if you needed help moving in."

She stares at him for a moment and then glanced at me. Her gaze sends shivers down my spine and yet I can't look away from it. She nods. "I'm Emma. It's nice to meet you too. I would love the help." And just like that we started moving her in. We didn't talk much, just carried boxes inside, but every time Emma was in view of me, I felt compelled to stare at her. There was something about her that made me want to be around her. Jason noticed a few times and would make small comments like, "your staring," or just a small, "girl" with the L dragged out.
Something you should know about Jason is that he's gay. And you couldn't miss it for a second of being around him. The way he stands, the way he moves, the way he talks all shows it. And that's why he became my best friend. Back in like 4th grade I had a crush on a girl and when everyone made fun of me for it, he was there to comfort me. There wasn't a lot to work with in our small town but we managed.

After what seemed like not long enough, we had moved her into her house. "Thank you guys. You guys helped a lot." She stated looking at me with a smile. And I thought maybe she'd turn away and look at Jason but every time she spoke her eyes stayed on me. "Your very welcome." Jason had to reply because her eyes drew me. I couldn't explain it, but the look she gave me just made it worse. "We should be going now." Jason said staring at the both of us awkwardly. He tried to pull on my hand and I didn't budge.

"Would you like to come over for dinner?" I said without thinking. I don't know where it came from but all I wanted was to be around her and her coming over for dinner sounded like an amazing plan. She smiles at me. "I would love too." And with that I was finally pulled out of the house. As soon as we were out Jason gave me a look like I was out of my mind.

"Are you crazy? You obviously have it for this girl and she obviously had it for you and it doesn't take more than a second to see it. Your mom doesn't know about your secret and the moment she finds out your in a world full of trouble!" I look at him still dazed. "She was beautiful." Was all I could say. He laughs. "Yeah, you stared at her every moment you got. But serious Lacey. Go fix this."

I sigh and turn around to fix it. I knock on the door and she answers it. "Hello." She says with a smile. I stare at her nervously. "Um.. tonight isn't a good night for dinner. I'm sorry. Maybe we can," she stopped me. "That's okay sweetie. You don't have to have me over for dinner. If you'd like we can have lunch together instead?" She leans in and whispers in my ear. "Just you and me." I nod while my heart Pounds in my chest. "Okay. Let me just tell my..." I turn around and he's already gone. When I turn around Emma is standing to the side, letting me into her house.
