Shanes POV
Shane groaned as he woke up to his screaming alarm clock. He sat up and looked around at all the unpacked boxes scattered around his room.
He had just recently moved back to a small town in California with his father after his mother died, and he already hated being here again.
Shane got up for his first day back at his old school, careful not to wake up his father. He already yelled at Shane enough last night, and Shane really didnt want a lecture on how much of a disappointment he is again.
He got ready fairly quickly, eating some toast before throwing on a long sleeve shirt, and was out the door in under ten minutes.
As Shane walked to school, he watched as all the other kids were walking with their friends, while he was the only one that walked alone.
He missed all of his Colorado friends. They were all such a good group before something happened and they just stopped talking.
Shane doesnt know what exactly happened between all of them, but he just assumed they all grew up. Matured and went their separate ways. Thats why Shane didnt argue with his father when he said theyd be moving back.
Suddenly, someone jumped on his back, consequently pushing him to the ground.
"the fuck-" Shane blurted out as he stood back up and turning around to see who pushed him.
It was a pretty boy with shinning blue eyes.
"sorry, Garrett, i didn't mean-" The boy said, smiling, before he realised who he was talking to was, in fact, not Garrett.
"Oh, fuck. Im so sorry, i thought you were my friend." The boy said as he locked eyes with Shane.
They looked at eachother for a moment too long before Shane spoke.
"oh- um.. Its fine, really. You just startled me." Shane said, accompinied by a awkward laugh. The boy laughed too.
"You really do look like my friend though, its almost scary. Oh, by the way, Im Ryland." The boy, Ryland, said.
"Im Shane" Shane said with a smile. To his supprise, ryland smiled back, which made shane blush a bit.
Shanes POV
Ryland and I continued small talk until we reached the school.
"I just realised, i dont think ive ever seen you around here. Are you new?" Ryland asked, and I nodded in response.
"Yeah, well, I used to come here, but we moved away for a couple years, and now here i am again." I replied.
"oh.. well i guess you dont know many people then... Hey! You should sit with my friends at lunch! They wont mind at all." Ryland said, smiling ear to ear.
"I would love to!" I replied, happy that I wouldnt have to sit alone.

After three long hours of unmotivated teachers talking and lecturing in a monotone voice, it was finally lunch time. I walked around the outside lunch area until I saw Ryland with two other boys sitting at a table.
"Hey, Shane!" Ryland said, waving me over to their table.
After a few minutes of introduction, I learned the names Drew and Garrett. Drew was a little quiet, but he had the same sense of humor as me. Garrett was loud and quirky, and made a lot of nerd jokes. They both seemed really fun.
Lunch went by fast, and sooner or later Ryland and I were walking back to 6th period chem together.
"Your friends seem fun." I said, trying not to be awkward.
"Yeah, usually they are when they arent eating eachothers faces off.." Ryland said, laughing.
"Wha- really? Theyre dating?" I asked in pure supprise.
"Pfft, yeah. Theyve been dating for a while now." Ryland replied.
I wonder if Ryland is gay.. no. Hes probably straight. And even if we was gay, he wouldnt like me. im just a depressed sadist.
After another three hours, school was over, and Ryland met me outside. We walked back together, just talking about our day and complaining about the boring teachers and douchey students.
When Ryland got close to his house, he gave me a swift 'text me later' after quickly scribbling his number on my arm. His warm aura slowly went away as he walked further away from me. I continued my way to my house, and once I opened the door, I immediently got hit in the face with the hard stench of alcohol.
great. my dad is home.
"Well if it isnt the biggest faggot on the block." He said, drunkenly. I ignored him and walked to my room.
"Hey! Dont ignore me! Im your father!" He said, stumbling after me. I slammed the door on him, resulting in him getting angrier, and yelling louder insults. He gave up after a few minutes, ending it with "how did i end up with such a big mistake of a son"
Im not gonna lie, i cried a lot that night, and its a shame i left my blades in the bathroom
