Blanket

I look up at the popcorn ceiling thinking to myself, my headache is back. At least I have a soft blanket that hides me from the evils of the world.
This all reminds me of a time when I was just a girl with an innocent mind. My eyes had not yet seen evil. My ears had not heard screams of pain. My hand had not yet been stained red. Red.
Just like this warm blanket. I remember all the events clearly. I was a girl who had a hard life but I was still able to find happiness within it. I was still able to laugh with joy.
I knew that my mother was possessed with one of Cupid's arrows. That had to be the only reason why she would fall for a monster.
A monster who preyed on youth and the innocent. A monster who fed on happiness and joy. A monster who manipulated the fragile mind.
I remember his eyes.  How I could see all his evil in them. His face. How red it was as he was drunk with forbidden lust. His claws how dirty and sharp they were as he reached for her.
A little lamb. A little white happy lamb full of innocence. I knew what his disgusting intentions were as he reached for her. This was the day that I was no longer an innocent girl.
I remember grabbing the fork getting on top of the table and jumping on him as I penetrated his skin with the fork. I remember how he roared in anger and how he attacked me with his large hairy hands. Then my vision went red. Everything was as if there was a red colored lense. I got up and attacked him once more on his back. As he was taking out the fork that I jabbed into his skin I went for his kryptonite. He fell down as he yelled in pain. I jumped onto his fallen body and grabbed my small hands and bashed his head repeatedly on to the white tile. He begged me for mercy as his skull became a red fountain. I did not stop until I was pulled off.
My mother. It was my mother who had pulled me off of him. She ran to her beloved demon as she kicked me out of her home. It was about ten minutes later when I saw the men in blue open the doors walking into the scene looking for me. My mother told them that she had found her psycho daughter attacking her loving man. The men in blue nodded their heads and put silver restrains on me then shoved me into their vehicle. I scream to my mother telling her that I'm not the monster that he is. I cry as I am hauled away with my hands behind my back. The men in blue ask me what happened. I can hear their voices fading into the backroom as I close my eyes and fade into the darkness.
One of the men shakes me awake.
I look at the white building in front of me wondering why I am here. Why I am the one in handcuffs instead of the monster.
I see an older lady in a white dress with her hair tied up in a tight bun as she walks with us into the white building.
After about a few minutes of the adults talking the men in blue leave and the lady in white shows me a room.
The room is painted a yellow. On the bed there are yellow clothing. Everything in here is yellow and I feel suffocated by it. My eyes tear up again as I see the bars on the windows. It is clear to me that I am in some kind of a prison.
"Don't cry my child. This is your new home." She says as she stabs me with a needle on my neck.
When I awake I look up at the popcorn ceiling remembering all of the events that took place. I touch my head as I experience my very first headache. It Dawn's on me that I may never see my family again. That the monster won. The little lamb is still with him. My mother still has that damned arrow in her. And I am here. Locked in a prison.
I hear a knock on my door as a man dressed in all white wheels a cart into my new room.
"Oh. Your awake. Good. Now I can give you these." He says as he hands me a tiny cup with pills inside.
"Be a good girl and swallow them. If you do then you can have your pick of the blankets."
I do as he says and I pick the red blanket.
Blanket. I've never had a blanket before. Or a bed. Or even my own room. I may never see my family again and I might not know where I am but at least I have a blanket.
