Wanted to write. Wrote this.

Are the spaces in between the words too big on this?

It was a clear night, the city streets bathed in neon. Not a star shone through the illuminated avenues as cars made their way to their destinations, each one holding a different life, a new story. The loud sounds of scattered conversation filled the air, some girls giggling about their boyfriends, some business people, discussing numbers, a group comparing their favorite anime characters. There was no lack of activity in this bustling street, the giant ads for various products lighting up the passerby's faces.

Trailing behind a rather large group of people, who were very enthusiastic for a new movie that was apparently coming out in two days, a young man checked his phone, his wavy brown hair flopping over his eyes. As he shrugged past the New York crowd he went over the details of the night, to make sure nothing went wrong. Scrolling through his messages he saw the plans.

ashley and i'll meet u outside the place 10:45 try not 2 be late sam

As he pocketed the deep blue plastic, he scanned the street names, startled when he noticed he was nowhere where he had to be.

Shit! How the hell did I get here?! Fuck, I'm gonna be late!

As Sam started walking back the way he came, he realized how abandoned the street was. He didn't see anyone walk past, and the sidewalk was a bit dim compared to the artificial brightness of the main road, the grime on the buildings making the place look so much drearier.

Where the hell is everyone? Crap... don't tell me I'm in the seedy part of town... I better not get jumped. Shit... Whatever, if I hurry I might be able to make it to the concert on time.

As he passed a small alleyway in-between two buildings, he heard a small noise. Turning towards the shadowy gap, he felt his pulse quickening, the before silly thoughts of being mugged becoming a lot more real.

        "I-is someone there...?"

Idiot! 'Is someone there?' That's what all those stupid horror movie chicks say before they get their faces brutally smashed up! Anyway, it sounded like a cough. It's probably just some dumb cat.

As he nervously laughed at himself for being such a wimp, the young man picked up a rock and chucked it into the alley, muttering about 'people letting their pets wander all out and about like this'. Satisfied that the alley contained no dangerous thug, poised to slash his guts out, the young man turned around and was about to continue on his way when heard a low voice call out from the darkened alleyway.

"It's not very nice to throw things you know..."

Walking out from the shadows emerged a man. He towered over the young man's five foot frame, making him very uncomfortable. What made him more uncomfortable, however, was the way the tall man was dressed. A dark trench coat, covered what appeared to be his lack of shirt, and knee high boots adorned his legs, which the youth noticed also didn't seem to be covered in pants, or long ones anyways. As he hoped the large man was wearing shorts or something of the sort under the coat, he saw a tie wrapped around his neck, which seemed like a joke. Why the hell would you wear a tie but no shirt?!  And to top it all off, a fedora sat proudly upon the strange man's head, effectively covering his face.
