"when i close my eyes and try to sleep, i fall apart and find it hard to breathe. you're the reason, the only reason," ashton strummed his guitar while tapping his foot on the cajon he sat on.

"wow, ashton. that's beautiful..." y/n, his girlfriend sighed dreamily, throwing a couple sticks on to the campfire. "but it sounds like you're kinda... suffering."

ashton placed his guitar down and smiled. "nothing's wrong. i just... love you a lot, i guess." but he was lying.

he was telling a very big lie.

two days later

"and you... did it?" michael grinned in such a weird way while hitting ashton on the arm.
"hell yeah, i did!" ashton replied with a laugh, still thinking about the song meaning and how he needs to stop lying to his girlfriend.

"he was better than calum, right?" michael whispered, awaiting an answer. he exploded (not literally) with excitement, freaking out as he received a nod.

calum was an old boyfriend of ashton's (he's bi, 'cause he's a soft lil bOi), but they broke up... let's say because of artistic differences. that will be explained later on in the story.

anyway, ashton was sick of the smell of burning fries, fat and grease, so he and michael left mcdonald's, michael still freaking big time about the fact ashton had fucked someone.

"so... what's engaged life like, mikey?" asked ashton, stuffing his hands into his pocket as the cold wind blew against them.
"it's amazing... she's so beautiful and... just the best. words can't describe it," michael replied, floating off to daydream land thinking about his fiancée.

ashton smiled. that couple had no secrets between them, no lies, all truth and love. he had many things he was hiding from y/n.

as they neared the place they had to part to go home, ashton mumbled a goodbye, thinking of his brother, charlie, waiting at home for him, to be a bully probably.

charlie had recently got married to his girlfriend, and changed his last name to hers, puth, but was still living at ashton's house.

"hey charles," sniggered ashton, knowing charlie's real name was something he tried to keep a secret.
"shut up! i'm gonna kill you one day..." threatened charlie kind of playfully, but not really.

charlie and ashton were the two brothers to mess around with each other, but never betray or hurt the other. their brotherhood was strong.

and charlie was an accomplice to ashton's doings.
the doings he kept secret.
