she could hear it. she heard the gunshots. the whole city was going down. why didn't she try to stop it? because she valued her life. if she tried stopping them, she could easily be sent to her death.
she sat at her window, tears streaming down her cheeks as she watched her friends and family be shot down. she tried silencing her sobs in fear that they could hear her.
she could hear it. she could hear her family. they were calling her name. why didn't she come to them? because she valued her happiness. if she tried stopping them, she'd only cry again.
she backed away from her window, covering her ears to block out her family's desperate words. she didn't want to worry, she didn't want to cry.
she heard it all. she heard everyone. she couldn't stop the disaster happening outside.
she peaked out the window, causing a loud whimper to escape past her lips. they were dead. there was no one to care for her anymore.
she'd never be able to turn it back, right?
