They stood back, allowing Aiden to watch all the other men jump onto the fire escape and climbing onto the roof and slipping inside of the trapdoor, all until it was only them, Budster patiently waiting on the other side. Kig slipped his jacket off, using it to carry both his hidden and hand-held books, handing it to Aiden he jumped across and climbed up onto the base.
"Throw 'em over before you jump, the ladder wouldn't be able to hold all that weight." watching Aiden hesitate, he reached out his hand; slipping the bag off he first threw Kig's jacket over and then his own bag. "You'll be alright." Kig reassured the obviously scared teen, who imitated everybody else. Gripping onto the ladder, Kig heard a sound it didn't make before.
Creeeeaaaak.
Kig's eyes widened as he hurried over to the ladder.
Snap!
The Ladder slipped off from where it once was, and Aiden screamed as he started to plunge through the air; gripping onto the side, Kig slipped himself off, enveloping Aiden's wrist. Dangling in the air, Kig felt Aiden's trembling his body.
"I'm gonna swinging you up and you gotta grab onto the bar alright?" Aiden shakily nodded and Kig started to swing his arm. Aiden watched where the bar was, and once he was high enough, gripped on and pulled himself onto the platform. Kig then pulled himself up, seeing Aiden trembling as he sat on the stairs. Kig picked up the bag and his jacket.
"It'll be alright, just take deep breaths. We'll have to find a new, and safer way across now." he could feel Budster's unapproving eyes on his back from the top of the building as he helped Aiden stand up. "C'mon." Aiden took deep breaths as Kig lead him up the stairs, a gentle hand on his back.
"T-thanks... Dad said people would leave me if I got into danger." Aiden said, a tremble still in his voice.
"It's nothing, it was rusting for awhile now." getting to the top, he got the slightest glance of Bud slipping through the trap door. "Over there." he gestured, leading Aiden over. "Newcomer's coming down, don't shoot." he held Aiden back.
"Alright Kig." sending Aiden down, he jumped down behind him.
"C'mon, we don't got much more room for individual rooms, so you'll have to share one. You'll share one with me, I don't trust anyone else at the moment." Aiden nodded and Kig led him to his room, putting the bag and his jacket on the bed. "I'll be back. Stay here." Kig left, soon returning with a mattress he placed across the room from his own.
"Thank you." Aiden smiled at him, before he looked into the doorway. "Your friend seemed really reluctant to let me come, is everything alright?"
"Reluctant?"
"Oh uh, nervous or not wanting to do something, like to hesitate."
"Oh, uh, yeah Budster's fine. Ain't too happy with me bringin' in a stranger." Kig sat on his bed, moving the bag onto the floor. "He'll be more chatty after he knows he can trust you."
"He's not very verbose then."
"Learn to use english please." Kig sighed, annoyed he can't understand him half the time.
"I am using english," Aiden paused to think of a way to explain it, "it's just to a high extent that I've learned to use while I was reading, it makes you sound smarter and could even shorten your sentences." he nodded, satisfied with his explanation.
"Oh," it was all he could say. "alright then."
"I could teach you how to read books so you can learn them too," he gently smiled, one Kig had remembered. "it's all about context clues."
