Stacy, Scott, and Graser stopped in front of Lizzie's house. Stacy gaped at what she saw. Lizzie's once beautiful lavender field was dark and drained. The house was even worse. The pink wood she used for her house was now rotted and pealing. It was literally falling apart. The group nervously walked up the rickety stairs and Stacy pushed open the creaky door. The inside of Lizzie's house was completely empty and very dim. The only light source in the house was a window that had been boarded up. "When Lizzie said she would take a break from adventuring, I never thought she meant abandoning her house!" Stacy exclaimed.
"Maybe we should look around and see what happened to her," Scott said. Stacy nodded. They searched the house for any signs of Lizzie. Scott checked upstairs, Stacy looked around the yard, and Graser searched through the main floor. "Nothing out here!" Stacy called from outside. She walked back inside to see Scott heading down the stairs, looking disappointed. "Nothing upstairs either," Scott said. Graser let out a sigh, "Not finding anything here either. Maybe we could ask Joel if he's seeeEEEEEEEEEH-" Graser was cut off as the floor beneath him splintered, and he fell into a small cavern bellow. Stacy and Scott quickly ran over and peered inside. "Are you ok?" Stacy asked. "Yea, but I think my foot is uhh...broken? Also there are monsters, so that's great," Graser said. "How did you break your foot? You're a robot!" Stacy called. "Well it more of just kinda fell off and- PLEASE GET DOWN HERE!" Graser called impatiently. "We'll find a way down!" Stacy yelled back, "Now we need to find like...a ladder or something. Scott, help me look for one."
Scott looked at Stacy, and casually jumped into the hole. Stacy let out a yelp and looked over the edge. "Don't worry, it's not as long as it looks," Scott said, looking perfectly fine. Stacy sighed and stood up straight. "I can't believe I'm doing this," Stacy mumbled to herself. She held her breath and stepped over the edge. She let out a scream, expecting a long fall, but it was surprisingly short. Stacy slowly stood up and drew her sword. Spiders and zombies slowly crept from the Mine shaft. "Uh, are those cave spiders?" Scott asked nervously. "Technically any spider that lives in a cave is a 'cave spider'" Graser responded. Stacy turned and gave him a look, then looked back at Scott, "They look like it. Try not to get bitten." Scott nodded and slashed his sword through a spider that had jumped into the air and was about to land on him. They continued to slice through the spiders and zombies, but they were quickly surrounded. Stacy frantically looked around for some sort of opening, but it was no use.
"Hey! Cut it out you guys!" The spiders quickly turned around and dropped their attack formation. A very tired looking Lizzie emerged from the Mine shaft. Her pastel pink color in her hair had faded, and a pair of worn looking goggles sat on her head. Her outfit was dirty and worn out. "Lizzie!" Stacy and Scott said at the same time. Lizzie smiled, "Hey guys! Sorry about that, the spiders get pretty over protective," She reached down and rubbed one of the cave spider's heads, "Anyways, what can I do for you guys?" Stacy explained her situation, and the orb from her backpack. Lizzie took the orb and examined it. "There is definitely a camera in here, I'll need to break this open and track it...come to my work shop, then I can get a better look at it," She explained. Stacy and Scott helped Graser screw his foot back on and followed Lizzie into the Mine shaft. The Mine shaft wasn't as abandoned-looking as Stacy thought.
Flowers where scattered around the area, and pink stained glass dotted the walls. Even some of the mobs had cutesy accessories. "How long have you been living down here?" Stacy asked. Lizzie shrugged, "A couple of days..weeks....months...doesn't matter! I had to move down here to work on my project." Lizzie stopped as they reached a red wooden door. "Right through here," Lizzie opened the door revealing a large room covered in metal scraps and wilted flowers. Some sort of machine was in the middle, but it didn't look at all finished. "What is all this?" Scott asked, still in awe. "It's my security bot! Or...what's supposed to be my security bot. It hasn't exactly been a smooth building process," Lizzie explained.
Graser examined the bot and make a face, clearly not impressed. Lizzie took the orb and carefully split it open. Inside was a small camera, barely the size of a quarter. She took a screw driver from her desk and popped open a panel. Inside the tiny camera was a complex labyrinth of wires. She carefully moved them out of the way and plugged it into the laptop. The laptop's screen fizzled with static, and Lizzie typed in a couple of things. The static eased up and security footage appeared. It was footage from inside of Scott's base, dating back to 3 weeks ago. "Someone's been watching inside my base for 3 weeks? Talk about creepy," Scott shuddered. Lizzie narrowed her eyes at the screen. "Aha!" she exclaimed, "I can barely see it, but there are some coords on here!"
She pulled out a piece of paper and carefully wrote them down. She handed the paper to Stacy, "If you wanna find the culprit, this should help!" Stacy hugged Lizzie, "Thanks, Lizz, you're the best!" she pulled away, tucking the coords into her pocket. "You know, you could come with us," She said. Lizzie thought for a while, then shook her head, "No, thanks for the offer, though. I'm not ready to go back to adventuring..." Stacy nodded, and Lizzie lead the group to an elevator she had made. It lifted them to Lizzie's back yard, and Stacy looked at the coords with frustration on her face. Graser took the paper from her hand and typed them into his arm. His eyes flashed different colors, and pointed him in the right direction. "This way!" He said, taking the lead. "WAIT!!" Lizzie's voice called from the distance. She sprinted up to them, a metal backpack on her back. "I changed my mind, I wanna help," She said between breaths, "I figured you guys could use the help of an expert hacker." Stacy exclaimed her gratitude, and the four of them set off, the what they hoped was the thief's lair.
Author's note: Ok, so...it's been a while. I was honestly gonna abandon this fic forever, but I've gotten back into writing lately, so I'm going to finish it. That's a promise. I'm not sure when the next part will be, but as long as I have a passion for writing, I will keep working on this. -Evelyn
