I screamed, begged, pleaded, and even cried while trying to persuade my parents to change their minds, but nothing I did seemed to convince them otherwise. They kept saying their decision was 'set in stone' and I couldn't do anything to change it, oh but trust me, I tried. But now I am living every teenagers nightmare. I am being shipping off to some stupid boarding school in London. Oh don't get me wrong, going to London is a small town American girl's dream! Going shopping and meeting cute boys with british accents, but this was more about my dad than about me.

My dad is rich. Like, super rich. And he just wants to show off to his stuck up and snobby rich friends that we are a family of culture that embraces diversity and experiences all that life has to offer. And of course he had to use me to prove this to them instead of doing something himself. He was always so inconsiderate and lazy.

Now I am being forced to leave behind my perfect job at the Lexington Kentucky mall, my perfect crush that is at Lexington mall, and my perfect friends from Henry Clay High School all right before my senior year. This meant I had to miss senior prom, the class trip to Florida, and my cheer team will have to find a replacement for me. Thank you mom and dad for officially ruining my life.

Not only do I have to leave behind my all too perfect life, I have to leave behind my adorable little brother, Jimmy. Who will babysit him when I'm gone? He's not old enough to stay at home by himself every day after school. He could get kidnapped by the guy in our neighborhood with the towels as windows and the old, wooden, playground that was rotted and falling apart. He could be riding his bike and fall and nobody would be there to help him. He could eat something with peanuts and have an allergic reaction and die. He needed me here!

But no, I am here at Trinity, my boarding school, in London, unpacking my bags and folding my shirts into perfect squares. Then I heard something I never expected my mom to say. At least not for another year.

"Alright sweetie, it's time for us to go." I stopped folding and turned to her.

"Oh." I said. She ran up to me and embraced me in a big hug, squeezing me tight enough to make my eye balls pop out of my head. I just hugged her back.

"I love you so much darlin. More than you will ever know. I know you're gonna love it here. You're gonna have so much fun."

"I hope you're right." When I pulled away, I saw the tears In her eyes slowly fall down her cheeks. I turned to my dad who was looking out the window and when he turned around, I was surprised to see his eyes were also glazed over with tears. I've never seen my dad cry before. He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me.

"I love you babydoll. You will always be my little girl. I can already tell you're gonna be happy here."

"Tell Jimmy I'll skype him soon, okay?"

"Okay, we will baby. I love you so much." My parents were now standing in the doorway.

"I love you too." They left and closed the door behind them. I could feel it coming, but I couldn't stop it.

PANIC!

They left me. My parents actually left me! I was in a country I was unfamiliar with and I knew nobody here. Oh my god. What do I do? Breath Lucy, breath. I crawled into my bed and started to cry. It was then I realized that I was alone. I heard a knock on my door. I sat up quickly and rushed into my personal bathroom so I could wipe away my tears and I wouldn't look so hideous. I opened up the door and was greeted by a stranger.

"Hi, my name is Haley. I'm you're neighbor. I'm guessing this is your first year?" Haley had long, stick-straight, brown hair that had a slight red tint to it. Her big brown eyes reminded me of little puppy dogs and her pearly white smile was perfectly straight. Her skin was tan even though it was fall. Was there a tanning bed somewhere around here? I sure hope so. Anyway, her lips were light pink and she wore a plain white v neck with some jean capris. I don't think there is a dress code here.
