Chapter Two

Having Haley to walk with when entering the cafeteria was a huge relief. I probably would've been swept away in the crowd on the way there getting lost causing me to miss breakfast. Then i wouldn't be able to find my way back to my dorm or any of my classes, so I would be lost forever in an unfamiliar place and starve and then die.

Okay, maybe not that serious. But I definitely wouldn't have made it to breakfast. We ordered our food and she led me to her usual table right by a window. At the table were three other people. I sat down my tray holding my blueberry muffin, strawberries, and waffles and took my seat next to Haley.

"Lucy, this is Anna, Andrew, and Steven. Guys, this is Lucy, the new girl. She's my new neighbor."

"Hi!" They all replied in unison.

"Hi." I smiled and waved at them, wanting to make a good first impression. I would rather not embarrass myself anymore.

"And we are missing Haz. He should be here shortly. He's probably late."

"Haz is always late." Anna chimed in. Anna had short blond hair that was barely passed her shoulders, but it worked for her. Her shiny jewel nose ring winked at me when she turned her head towards me. Her baby blue eyes were big and round. She seemed to be so innocent.

Andrew looks up from his notebook that he seemed to be very concentrated on and gives a mischievous smile. "Of course you're the one to bring up Haz."

Haley cheeks turned pink as she looked down at her food and began picking at her muffin. I saw a boy walk into the cafeteria. Wait, not just any boy. THE boy. The beautiful boy. The curly haired boy with the green eyes that managed to stare right into your eyes whenever he talked to you. The boy I ran into. The boy I humiliated myself to with my stupid stuttering. THAT boy.

His eyes searched the lunchroom and when they found us, he face brightened and he started walking towards us. Oh. My. God. What is he doing? He's not coming to our table. No way. He's going to the table with all the douche bags right next to us. Well at least that's what I thought. He grabbed the seat on the other side of me and sat down short of breath.

"Hello. Sorry I'm late. I had a little run into with someone on my way out." He was looking at the menu, trying to read what it said from this far away and he finally looked over at me. "Oh, hi. I recognize that red hair from anywhere. You're the girl I ran into! Again, I apologize. I should've been paying attention to where I was going. You're name is Lucy, right?"

"oh, uh, yeah. Hi again." Ugh, I swear I'm retarded with boys.

"You two have met?" Haley seemed a little confused when I explained to her what happened when she pushed me away to go to the bathroom. "Oh." Was all she said, shrugging her shoulders.

I looked up to see Steven and Anna pretty much having sex. Ew. Gross. I don't know if either of them have brushed their teeth, but they have both been eating and I do not do morning breath.

I think Harry read the expression on my face and leaned over to whisper in my ear. "This isn't even the half of it. Just wait until dinner." Just wait until dinner? Did he just indirectly invited to sit with them again during dinner??

I finally found my voice after losing it when I felt his warm breath on my neck while he whispered to me. "It gets worse?" The expression on my face showed disgust.

"Much worse." He leaned back in whisper once more. You know, he should really stop doing that. He's going to make me faint or something. I don't even know. I can't even. I just can't. I don't know.

"Do you all mind? I can't write when the sound of your lips smacking is louder than clanking wooden blocks together. Jesus, get a bloody room!" I can tell this is a sight that all of us, but mainly Andrew, can't stand. Especially while eating. I mean seriously, I could see tongue. Barf.

"Andy, I'm not sure if they're physically capable of going a few minutes without snogging each other's face off. They're hormone level are still a little high right now considering Steven is just now going through puberty." Harry mimicked Steven's high-pitched, sometimes crackling, voice and the whole table bust into laughter.

Steven finally pulled away from Anna, making her give him a did-you-really-just-pull-away-from-me face. Seeing that made me laugh. I've known them for not even 5 minutes and I can already tell they're a horny couple. "Hey now, I would like to say that my voice does not sound like that." Steven's voice cracked on the word 'not' making everyone laugh so hard that they were crying.

"So Haz, how are you and Gabrielle?" Haley chimes in, her voice full of curiosity.

"Okay." That was his only response to her question when he quickly switched the topic before Haley could open her mouth to ask any further questions. "So Lucy, what's your schedule like?"

"Oh, uh here. Let me show you." I grabbed the schedule put of my bag and handed it to him, avoiding physical contact. If I can't even handle him breathing, I don't even want to imagine the result of a touch.

He looked over the sheet of paper and smiled softly. "3 classes together. Why are you in music appreciation?"

"Oh, my family is big on music. Everyone is very musically talented."

"Oh, really? Do you play any instruments?" He seemed genuinely concerned. I could tell by his body language. His body was turned completely towards me, leaning forward. His head was cocked to the side, one eyebrow was up. His eyes never left mine.

"I play piano and guitar. Only a little bit though. I mean, I'm not bad, but not the best. I'm nothing compared to my brothers." I don't really like playing for people. I feel like I'm not good enough and making people listen to me would just be a waste of their time, so I keep the playing to myself.

"Oh, really? You know, I love music. I actually sing for the band called white eskimo. We are looking to be playing in the battle of the bands coming up in a few weeks if you would like to come." He just invited me to watch his band. What is air? I completely forgot how to breathe.

I really hope he didn't notice my body freeze when he asked me to come to his concert. Once air filled my lungs I was relieved to find my voice to be steady. "Sure, sounds like fun."

I turn around to notice that nobody was even paying attention to us. They were lost in their own conversation about the never ending, soul sucking darkness of space. This was really a weird bunch of kids. Not like I care. They were entertaining.

Finishing breakfast, we all dispersed going to separate classes. All of us, except Harry and I. We ended up having first period together.
