" I breath life into you my child."
The great dragon breathed it's life into the dormant egg, it glowed hot and rested i the great beasts claws. The sound of a heart beat echoed in the massive caves.
"I'm sorry my child. For your mother is no longer with us."
The dragon looked toward its life partner that slowly turned to stone.
" You will be a great dragon."
The dragon rested it's head to sleep, and every month for a year it breathed life into it's child. Soon it was born. On a cold winters night.
"My..child." the dragon cried, looking down on the human child. "How could this be?"
He knew this could be possible but never thought his child would use it's magic. It looked permanent. He slowly stood holding the delicate baby in his arms, slowly changing human himself. Grabbing the tattered clothing from the floor he bundled himself and the child up,preparing to venture out into the village.
" my love. I'll see you soon."
He stepped into the snow it melting instantly, its been nearly a century since he's stepped into the village.
"I remember when they used to worship us. If only you were born in that time."
He whispered as small embers escaped his mouth.
His child cried in the dead of night for warmth and nourishment. He stopped to feed his child the blood of a pig.
"Im sorry this meal is nothing compared to the life energy your mother would give you."
He held the beautiful girl close to him as he pushed through the gate. Everyone was sleeping or just in the bar drunk. He knew humans didn't believe in dragons anymore ever since the new emperor took the thrown, and outlawed the tales of far away lands and fairytales.
He smiled at his daughter and soon placed her down on the steps of a building, pulling the clothes around the crying baby to keep her warm. He pulled out an amulet and placed it on her.
"This is your mothers. It will guide you home when you're ready. I love you so much Atsuko."
He left his only daughter on the doorstep of some stranger, his heart broke knowing he would never see her again, he would never be able to teach her how to fly. To learn her first words or even breath fire. The dragon quickly flew back to his home where he rested, slowly turning to stone.
"Live well, Atsuko."
Atsuko ran through the streets, as the other children pelted her with rocks and sticks, shouting horrid words. She ran home and closed the door, panting.
"Mommy!"
"Atsuko? shouldn't you be in school?"
She cried and hugged her mother tight, wishing that things could be better for her and her family. Her mother sat her down and washed her dirty face and hands singing to her.
