Lily evans 7th year moments

Dating

Well guys here is another one. This has been requested by booksobsessed444, so I hope you all enjoy it.

I don't know when it happened, but towards the end of sixth year me and James became friends. I think it was mainly due to him making an effort to be more friendly with me rather than asking me out all the time.
But now in the beginning of 7th year I wish he did still ask me out. We both were named head boy and girl, therefore have been spending more and more time together. This allowed me to see the sweet loyal caring side of James causing me to like him.
But he no longer asks me out, even when I have dropped so many hints now.
It was a Thursday night and we were doing our midnight patrols together.
"So who you going to hogsmeade with on Saturday?" I asked him, thinking of ways to hint what I wanted him to ask me. If not, today I was going to ask him out on a date myself. Alice and Marlene told be to go for it as James probably scared to ask me out again as it may ruin our friendship if I said no.
"Not really sure. Probably the guys unless one of them has a date. So yeh same as usual. What about you?"
"Yeh same. I wish I had a date too. There is this guy I like but he hasn't asked me out yet."
James visibly stiffened before saying "who? it's that Lucas guy from ravenclaw isn't it? I new it." He snapped seeming to be jealous.
"What you going on about" I was really confused at this point as I had no idea where he got this from.
"James he is my friend. Nothing else."
"Then who is it? I know it's that other guy you are spending more time with now. What's his name? Oh I know amos. "
"Seriously James I help him with his work. The person I was talking about is..." before I finished he interrupted me with his rambling of different guys I've talked to recently due to work or prefect related. Obviously James has been noticing. And his reaction now kind of makes me happy. It gives me a bit of hope that James still might actually like me.
"Seriously Lilly you can pick some one so much better than all those guys. They won't treat you as well as you should be treated." James continued to ramble. This continued till the point he was no longer listening to me attempting to explain what I meant.
Without thinking clearly I grabbed James by his collar pulling him down towards me, crushing my lips upon his.
He stood there in shock for a few seconds before he started to respond as well, bringing his arms around my waist. I don't how long we stood there kissing until we finally broke away from one another and slowly moved back.
"What was that for? I thought you didn't like me in that way?" James questioned.
"Well I've been dropping hints since the beginning of 7th year. But obviously you didn't understand."
"Well Lilly on that note. Evans will you go hogsmeade with me on sarurday?" He said while smiling.
"I thought you would never ask. But yes!!"

Saturday came slowly even though I had to wait one day for my date. But the whole school already seemed to known that I had accepted a date with James thanks to sirus.
His reaction at the breakfast table at Friday morning made sure who ever was present (which was nearly the whole school) heard him shout "Evans finally said yes for a date!!!"
Literally the whole hall went silent and stared at me and James. Now it was Saturday morning and it took 4 tries before I chose my clothes with the help of Alice and Marlene.
As I made my way towards the entrance hall where I knew James was waiting, I started to get nervous. Towards the bottom of the starred I spotted James, who stood up straighter. As I got closer I quickly wiped my sweaty hands against my black jeans, and fiddled with my green sweater sleeve.
"Hey. You look really nice" James said greeting her.
"Thanks. Emmmm... shall we go" he nodded in response and we made our way towards the village.
We walked in silence mostly making some small talk about the weather and our other friends plans.
When we made it to the three broomsticks James got us two butterbeers and we found a table in the corner.
I don't know why but I continued to feel nervous. Speaking to James usually was really easy, but now I seemed to be overthinking everything.
I reached towards my butterbeers and knocked it over by accident causing it to fall all over James.

"Oh my god! I am so sorry! I didn't mean that. I'm so stupid." I began to panic.
"Chill Lilly look" he quickly took his wand out and cleared up the mess.
"Nothing to worry about."
They Both stared at each other for a good minute and both burst out laughing.
"What wrong with us. Why are we acting so nervous. Let's enjoy ourselves. Not overthink." James said
"I agree" I replied feeling more relived now.
The rest of the afternoon went surprisingly smoothly. After ordering me another butterbeer we went to honeydukes
to stock up on our sweets and chocolates, as well as visiting the book store for me.
James even convinced me to go to the quidditch store which was actually really enjoyable. Looking at James passion when showing me things made the experience even better.
After we had something to eat we started to make our way back towards the castle.
Today had been great.
"I still wish you would of let me payed for dinner." I complained.

"Why would I. It's a date I'm supposed to pay." James replied while causally taking hold of my hand, which made me smile.
"But you didn't even let me buy my own chocolates and book."
"Lills, it's ok. I like making you feel special."
At this point we had just reached the a tree a few meters from the castle door.

"I had a really great time today." James said.
"Me too" I replied smiling at him.
Slowly James moved his face towards mine, giving me time to move away if I wanted to.
When he saw I didn't he gently kissed me.
"Does this mean I get another date."
"I think it does. " I said slowly kissing him once more.

I don't know why I waited so long to say yes to James. Because at this point I feel really happy.
