Mikay's POV:
She was released from the hospital two days after the accident. The only reason she had to stay was to see if any improvement in her hearing occurred. It was false hope. The doctor insisted that she may regain hearing within a month or so but Mikay knew it wasn't true.
Luke had stayed those three nights and two days at the hotel with her. Having conversations with her parents she could only catch parts of by reading lips. The world 'help' and 'maybe' was said a lot.
When she arrived at home Luke grabbed onto her hand and looked at her with a smile which she returned. As they approached the house she noticed all the lights were dark.
It was NOT a surprise party.
This she was positive of.
She opened the door and flicked on the lights motioning for Luke to follow her. Slowly one by one she turned on the lights of the empty home. Both of her parents were at work. That's why they couldn't come pick her up.
Mikay sighed and texted Luke a message on her phone's notepad.
You don't have to stay :) I'll be okay
He smiled and quickly typed back a message
I'm staying :)
She smiled and set her phone in her sweatshirt pocket. She glanced around her silent home.
As her eyes scanned over the piano in the corner her face twisted up in pain. She wouldn't ever be able to play again. And that was the worst feeling ever.
Luke nudged her shoulder and motioned to the piano. She was shaking her head no but he pulled her up anyways and dragged her to the piano bench.
'Trust me' he mouthed to her.
She smiled and sat down next to him. Slowly he began to push the keys down with the pads of his fingers. She couldn't hear anything but judging but the look on Luke's face it was a slow mellow tune.
She wished she could hear like Luke did. She wished she could hear the music.
As she sat there she realized something about Luke.
She envied him.
A/N:
