Lainey at the top. Face Claim - Madelaine Petsch

Happy reading 💛💛

<~><~><~>

I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off on my phone. "Ah damn, it's to early for this." I mutter to myself as I rise up from my bed.

I quickly jump in the shower and get out. After straightening my hair and brushing my teeth, I pick out an outfit and run downstairs.

"Lainey sweetheart, could you pass me those files on the counter there." My mom was flailing through her briefcase. "Oh my, I am so late for work!"

She snatched the files from my hand and quickly kissed my cheek. "I'll be home late tonight," Again. "Just don't wait up for me and there are leftovers in the fridge. Bye!" She leaves before I can utter one word.

My mom is always out late working. She's barley ever home and when she is, she sleeps most of the time. I don't blame her though, she's just trying to keep the roof over our heads and help me pay for college. I grab an apple on my way out the door. After getting in my car and turning the key, it wouldn't start.

"Oh come on, Gypsy." I turned it a few more times but nothing. "Please, if you do this for me. I will take you to get a new coat of paint or a car wash." I turned it again and she started. "Yes! Yes! Thank you."

I drive to the school parking lot but before I go in, I look at myself in the review mirror. "You got this, Lainey. You are a magnificent beast. You can handle anything that life throws at you." I finish my daily inspirational speech and make my way into my own person hell.

I clutch onto my backpack because sometimes they like to take it from me and put it in the schools fountain.

"Hey Lainey! Why don't you just go home? No one wants you here!" I here someone call to me.

I smile and pretend I don't hear anything, as always. I walk to my locker, and to my surprise, the word Loser that had been spray painted on it was nearly gone. I look over and see Lloyd, the janitor walking toward me.

"Did you do this, Lloyd?" I ask him.

"You clean up the mess when the kids don't throw away their food. It's the least I could do for you." He smiles.

"Well thank you."

Lloyd was a very old man and I think he's been working here for a very long time. I know it's his job to clean, but it's still nice. He's always nice to me because I pick up the trash from other kids. It's sad to say it, but he's like my only real friend here. The kids here bully me every single day, since I was a kid. I'm not really sure why, I've never bothered to ask either. This is just the way it's been since we were all younger. I used to cry about it and make myself seem cooler for them, but that seemed to only make it worse so I just chose to ignore it. I sat down in my seat in Anatomy and took out my notebook.

"Oh wow, Jess, would you look who decided to show her face at school today. If I would have know she'd be back, I would've brought my nose plugs." Chrissy says to her friends.

Chrissy, my worst tormentor. It seems like no matter what, I can't escape her and her pack of bullies. "Wow Chrissy, I believe that's insult one billion and twenty one. Good for you, did you want a prize for your trick?" I told her but she just rolled her eyes.

You see, I do get bullied but I'm not a pushover. I don't feel sorry for myself and I don't let their insults get to me. I know I'm smart, I know I'm pretty, and I know I can get further in life than any of these people.

"Alright class, turn in your homework form yesterday and today we are just taking notes for next weeks quiz." I turned in my paper first, resulting in many scoffs from other kids.
