"Jackie!" Someone jumped on my mattress, causing me to roll into the dip where Luke's feet landed. "Wake up! I'm so hungwy!" He complained and finally stopped jumping around my body. He jumped onto my back and pulled gently on my ponytail. "Come on!" He whined.

I rolled over, groaning and shifted Luke so he was now sitting on my stomach, but I didn't open my eyes. I felt his little hand clamp my shoulder and roughly shake me. "Five more minutes..." I mumbled. I'm so tired, I was up past midnight unpacking as much as I could. Luke and I didn't even sleep in a real bed last night, it was just a mattress on the floor.

His tiny fingers opened one of my eyes, "No," he pouted cutely. "I'm so hungwy!" And as if on cue, his stomach growled loudly.

I felt guilty being responsible for his hunger. We arrived at the flat at eleven o'clock last night and Luke had passed out in the cab on the way here. And since airplane food is nasty, neither of us had any real food for nearly twenty hours. I'm starving too.

"Okay," I groaned lazily and Luke sprawled off my stomach and helped me up by pulling my arm. "But we have to stop by the market first and pick up some groceries." I yawned and stretched, desperately wanting to just crawl back onto the mattress. I didn't bother changing Luke or myself, since it's early in the morning and not much people would be out grocery shopping. And I'm just too lazy to unpack the suitcases.

After loading into the truck, we arrived at the nearest grocery store. With Luke's hand latched in mine, I grabbed a cart and walked down the aisles. "What's for breakfast, kiddo?" I asked Luke while I placed a milk carton in the cart. I felt goosebumps on my bare arms from being near the refrigerated section.

"Pancakes!" Luke exclaimed excitedly. I rolled my eyes and smiled.

"I'll give you five minutes to go and look for everything we need for pancakes." Some may think that letting a five year old run around a new grocery store is a bad idea, but this place is so small that you can hear the registers from across the room.

"Pancakes!" He squealed again and ran off in some random direction in search for pancake ingredients.

"He is so cute." A lady beside me commented. "How old is he? Is he yours?" Surprisingly she didn't sound judgmental at all, simply curious and a bit amused. I get so tired of the looks sometimes when people see me, an eighteen year old, with a five year old holding my hand.

"Oh no," I smiled politely. "That's my brother Luke, he's five." Though we were siblings, we barely looked it. I had dark brown almost black hair, tan skin, and crystal blue eyes, while Luke had shaggy blond hair and a pale complexion. The only thing we had in common in the looks department is our eyes.

"He's such a doll!" the woman laughed. "I really miss them when they were that age." I tried to get a closer look at her without looking too obvious. She didn't seem very old, late thirties maybe at the most. "My youngest is around your age," that shocked me. "Luke reminds me so much of him. Is he a cheeky lad?" She asked as she grabbed some eggs and cheese and placed the carefully into her own cart.

"Very." I chuckled. "I'm Jackie, by the way." I introduced myself to the stranger. She jumped as if realizing something.

"Oh I'm sorry! I never introduced myself! I'm Anne." She smiled at me. "Are you new around here? I've never seen you here before."

I nodded and added some bread with the rest of the groceries. "Luke and I moved here last night from Manchester." I explained.

"Is it just the two of you?" Anne asked worriedly. I mentally facepalmed myself, I just told her that we don't live with our parents.
