Dean was asleep. Even with his eyes closed, he couldn't feel him. His teddy bear. Roman was absent. His teddy bear went shopping for groceries as he slept. Dean was a light sleeper. And Roman knew the moment he removed his bronzed arms from his koala, he'll stir in his sleep. But this time, his koala fell into the abyss of sleep alone.
And he took advantage of it. He placed his grey Nike's on his feet, flung his navy colored Polo windbreaker on, and grabbed the keys to his SUV from the hole on the wall, hidden behind his stuffed polar bear. It was 8:27 am on a breezy yet frosty Tuesday morning. He entered the vehicle and sped off to the store.
The Samoan arrived at the store and entered with a shopping cart. He dashed through each aisle, grabbing precious items like Chips Ahoy, milk, eggs, soda, and more for his sweetheart. But his eye was caught by a tiny package he found outside the store. He placed his bags of treats into the trunk and walked towards the closed box.
As he got closer, he could hear yelping and whimpering. He grabbed his pocket knife and stabbed through the duct tape that held the flappy ends of the box in place. He saw a grey ball of fluff once he opened it. The little creature revealed its face and the Samoan's heart broke. It was a tiny baby owl. He picked the little one up and immediately the grey fluff buried itself into the sweetheart's arms.
He carried the creature into the car and placed him into the passenger seat. He used Dean's shirt and wrapped him into a burrito structure. Good thing he forgot it here after Raw. Roman started the car and drove out of the parking lot. The little fluff hooted along the whole way home. The Samoan thought of how the little guy arrived at the corner of the store in that box. It didn't even have holes for it to breathe from.
Finally, they arrived at the brownish house in the woods. It looked like a cabin. Roman killed the engine and got out of the drivers seat. He went after the groceries first, placing them on the kitchen table before going into the passenger seat to pick up the little one. He placed him on one of the chairs at the table and started putting the food where they belonged. Afterwards, he picked up the owl again and went to see if his koala was awake. He opened the door slowly and quietly and saw that he was still asleep.
He decided to take the little one to the vet to get checked. Which meant another road trip for him to take. Once they were seated in the car, he left his driveway and dashed to the vet. The little fluff didn't do much but hoot along the way like he did on the previous trip. They had arrived at the animal's clinic and entered. He waited till the line went down and took the time to actually study the owl. Then his turn arrived and explained what happened that very morning.
He waited another few minutes and then his name was called. The vet walked them to a room and sat the little fluff down on the table as he sat on a chair next to it. The little guy wobbled around and the vet looked at Roman. The little owl was in perfect condition and suggested that he should be released into the wild again. The little one decided to fly onto the Samoan's arms and whimpered. The vet looked in awe and gave him a list of how to take care of him and his office number if he needed medical care. Not only that but more information on his species.
Roman thanked the vet and left with the little one in his arms. Before they left, the vet fed him a tiny snake and the little fluff seemed to have enjoyed it. Roman didn't know whether Dean will go along with this or not, he hoped to have support from his lover. He had become attached to the little grey fluff in less than 24 hours and he knew he wouldn't let go.
When they got home, Dean was munching on cereal on the couch as he watched tv. Dean looked away from the tv and smiled. He placed his bowl on the small coffee table and petted the little fluff. He smiled as the baby owl nuzzled against his hand and pecked at it lightly.
"Babe?" Dean said.
"Yes?" Roman replied as he held both beautiful creatures closely.
"He fills the absence in our home, doesn't he?" Dean says as he grabs his Samoan's hand.
"He does baby." He said as the baby grey chirps.
