Chapter 7

Monday morning

Drew's POV

I was done with classes for the day and had to start my internship today. I was excited for my internship, I'd be working as a teaching assistant for a local 2nd grade classroom. I wanted to be more than a teacher I wanted to be a positive role model in kids life's and future. I was at home to change my clothes I would be spending every Monday,Wednesday and Friday at the school. I would be going after the classrooms lunch and also I would be working at the after school program with kids who had trouble with class work.  I was now on my way to the school, when I arrived I parked and placed my parking permit on my dashboard. Walking into the school I went to the office to be sign in.

"Good afternoon Miss.Drew. How are you gonna today?" The secretary said with a welcoming smile.

"I'm doing great. Excited for today, I can't wait to meet the kids." I replied

"I bet you are! On that reminds me. Here's your badge and Jacob over there will so you your classroom." She said handing me my badge

"Thank you." I said to her as I followed Jacob out the office.

"So your Mr. Morgan's teachers assistant." Jacob asked

"Yes I am. My name is Miss. Drew." I said

"Well I'm Jacob and I'm a 6th grader and I'm the class president." He said

"Wow pretty impressive for such a little man."  I said as we made our way to room 305. I thanked Jacob and walked in to the classroom.

"Hello, Mr. Morgan how are you today?" I asked shaking hands with him.

"I'm doing great Drew how are you." He responded

"I'm great as well happy to be here." I said

While the kids are still at lunch and I'm just finishing up mine now. You can set up your stuff over there on that desk it's yours." He said pointing to what was now my desk.

The room grow silent as I went and unpacked my breath case. I had already made lessons plans that Mr. Morgan pre approved. I began to fell a bit anxious out of no were. I was excited to say the least but, I never had to teach more than 5 students and this was all new to me. Lunch had came to an end and so had recess. Mr.Morgan had went to bring the kids back to the class. I sat there for about 5 minutes completely lost in my own thoughts. Soon I heard the chatter of 2nd graders fill the room. I watched as some placed their lunchboxes in their lockers that were inside the classroom and others took their seats. Soon they all took their seat as I seen all eyes were own me. Mr.Morgan took that tine to introduce me to the class.

"Class this is Miss. Drew and she will be my teachers assistant every Monday, Wednesday and, Friday for the rest of the year. She'll also be available at the after school program, where you can go if your having trouble with anything. Everyone say hello and she'll take over from her." He said taking a seat

I stood up from my chair and made my way in front of the chalk board.

" Hello class, like Mr.Morgan said I'm Miss. Drew. A little back ground about myself, I from St. Louis. Does anyone no what state that's in?"  I little girl in the front row raised her.

"Yes." I said pointing to her

" Missouri." She said
