(Dan's POV)
----
The cool breeze wraps around us, holding me in this moment. He holds me close, my head rests on his chest and his arms are wrapped gently around my waist as the soothing sounds of rain floods in the room from the cracked window, mixing with the soft music that's playing. He hums softly along to one song after the other, titles and melodies blurring together as I relax against his figure. I slowly look over to him after what felt like a while and see him looking at me with a soft grin."What?" I murmur," Do I have something on my face?"
"No Dan, there's nothing on your face," he responds with a laugh, his grin now a smile that spreads all the way across his face.
"Then what? Did I have a stupid look in my face?"
"No! You were smiling, you idiot. You were mouthing the words to the songs and smiling!" He remarks. His voice is quiet, yet excited as he leans in and kisses the top of my head. "So, I take it you feel better?"
"Yeah actually, I'm great Ky, absolutely great," I respond quietly, lacing my fingers with his on top of my chest. I feel his smile grow against my head and feel myself smile too, the rain picks up slightly from outside as it pounds on the window behind us. His hands slowly work their way up my back and he wraps his legs tighter around mine in the rooms half darkness. I sigh contently as he gently kisses the back of my neck, his breath warm against my cold skin.
"Here, let's cover up," he says as he pulls the blanket up from the foot of the bed. It slowly drapes over us, the smell of him consuming me when he shifts to get closer to me. "How's this?"
"Perfect," I whisper, my heart feeling like it's about to explode. His hand slowly move up to hold my shoulder blades as he gently massage them. I sigh again, reaching out to hold him tighter. The rain came as a complete surprise, the sunny afternoon grew cooler as the grey clouds rolled in with the wind. We are in the car on our way back to his house when it started pouring. We ended up at my house when Kyle walked in and saw his cousins and other extended family in the living room. His mother had no clue they were coming today, thinking it was next Saturday. She told us we could go, claiming that he could visit later, though I have a feeling that she knows exactly what's up with us.
"Us," I mutter it under my breath, smiling at the sound. Though it seems ridiculous because we've been us for the longest time in the world, it feel different. It holds a stronger meaning now.
"What?" He questions with a smile as he looks to me, his hands moving to cup my cheek.
"It's nothing," I reply, my face growing hot with what can only be a furious pink blush. I thank God that the lights are off, because I know that if he could see my face, it would just embarrass me more.
"Oh come on, love," he says softly as he gently bites the skin on my neck, causing me to sigh as I bury my head deeper into his shoulder. He kisses the top of my head and smiles against my hair and we just sit in the comfortable silence.
"Do you ever think about running away? I mean, not forever, but long enough for all of the stress of day to day life to be gone?" I ask quietly after 20 minutes of saying nothing. I feel him shift, then his hands are on either side of my face as he hovers over me. He leans in and connects our lips, his hand moving up to caress my cheek as he picks my lips. I open my mouth and pull him closer, needing to feel him pressing against me as the rain picks up from behind us.
"I have a few time, but not in a while," he whispers against the skin of my neck when we break apart. I wrap my arms around the back of his neck and my legs around his waist as he lays down on top of me. "Why? Are you alright? Is something getting worse?"
"No, I guess I've just been thinking a lot lately. I just-" he cuts me off with a kiss, short and sweet. His hand holds my shirt tightly as he looks at me with a downcast gaze. "I guess I never really planned on acting on it though."
"Are you sure you're alright Danny? I'm not going anywhere, unless you want to, then we can totally go away for a while," He whispers into my skin. I nod gently against his shoulder before he pills back to look down at me. "You're gorgeous love,"
I smile softly and cup his face with my hand, blushing as I turn my eyes down, grinning like an idiot. I feel him move closer, his lips gently connecting to the skin on my neck. I sigh contently and let my head fall to his shoulder.
"I love you," I whisper softly to him. He looks back down to me before kissing me again. I smile into it, pulling him closer as I tangle my fingers into his hair.
"I love you too, Dan," He says back. He lays down beside me again and I curl myself around his warm figure. My head rests on his chest, the sound of his heartbeat soothing. Songs change, the rain drones on behind the glass of the window, but none of it matters to me. "It's getting late, we should get to sleep love."
"Alright," I respond, curling closer to him, if that's even possible at this point. He kisses my head with a smile and I take hold of his hand, smiling wider as I place them on my sides. "Night Ky."
"Night Dan." and with that, I feel myself begin to drift away. Smiling happily, I close my eyes and breathe him in a I fall asleep.
**A/N: I'm sorry it's been so long, I haven't really had many ideas lately. I'll try to get more out soon enough, but probably not until next week due to exams.**
