"That was a good nap. Time to head out and check the board." The eevee looked up to inspect the clock that was crafted by her friend. It read 1:30PM with the position the Xatu was pointing at.
Stretching and yawning away the drowsiness, the eevee got up to inspect her room.
It has been tidier than what it used to be thanks to her roommate. The walls were free of dust, the floor wasn't cluttered with assorted items from our adventures but instead was organized onto shelves and what he had called a 'closet'.
In the closet hung costumes and scarves, the ground neatly covered with boxes with labels. I went to the closet and picked out the stamina band. I figured I'd do a lengthy dungeon this time, hopefully I can manage it.
Deciding that I was done here, I headed outside. Only to be met with a request from...Xatu. I never expected to see a rescue request from him of all pokemon, but I guess all mon's need help sometimes.
The Pikachu seemed very lax about it, so it must not be very urgent. However the eevee felt something amiss.
"What is the rank of this mission?" She asks carefully eyeing the pikachu and his reaction.
"It's a D-rank, miss. And I was requested by an anonymous to escort you there."
A D-rank escort mission? And I'm the objectives client? I don't like where this is going at all. Xatu better have a reason for this.
"OK then, but here are my rules." I firmly place my paw right onto his foot. "You will not hold me back and won't treat me as if I'm incapable of protecting myself, is that understood?"
The Pikachu, now becoming a little anxious about her approach replied,"I'm well aware of your abilities, but I was told that you would require assistance not going to the place, but coming back."
This made even less sense than what was said already. Coming back I'd need help? How does this even count as a rank D request? Finally, after giving up on trying to figure out what was planned. "Fine, let's go then. But what's your name? I only work with mon's with a name." Asking for his name would make this easier to coordinate our attacks.
"My name?!" The Pikachu exclaimed, shocked as to why he would be asked that of all things. "I-I don't know..." He begins to fidget uncomfortably.
"Either you tell me or we aren't leaving. And I'll head back inside and take a nap." I say, prodding my head upwards as if I were trying to be snobbish.
"Um, well...you see. I don't really have a name. Besides what we usually call ourselves, I'm used to being called pikachu, I never actually thought about it until now.
"Well, then you better get pretty creative real fast then, cause I'm going back inside." Walking back inside, she headed straight for the storage of food. Today, she'd just eat a pecha berry to hold her off for the trip. She turned around to the pikachu right behind her and choked on the berry. "Ack, what are you doing here?!" She exclaimed in surprise.
"I was wondering if you could help me choose a name. I'm still new to this." He begins to fidget once more but more aggressively than last time.
Breathing and catching her breath after that berry's insertion, she mumbled, "Why don't you be uncreative and base it off your type and name?" The sarcasm just rolling off her words didn't seem to reach the ears of her target.
"How about... Mason?" The Pikachu looks at her, confidently.
Mason, it's a name at least. "Alright then, Mason, let's go." We head out and towards the Hill of the Ancients.
