"And she wasn't there!" Zina yelled through the phone .

"No" I lied easily . " apparently the Ashley bitch is Ryan's ex and she's not over her so she wanted to fuck with us knowing I would feed into it." I lied again.

"What you mean ' she knew you would feed into it' what this bitch know about you friend?!" She yelled through the phone.

"Not a motherfucking thang .. and guess what else bitch.." I said into the phone.

"What bitch .." Zina said in a low tone.

"She a fucking FEM!" I yelled.

I busted out laughing . " so you telling me Ryan the dyke slayer out her fucking on fems ? Nooo who would've figured." She said .

"Exactly . I've only known Ryan to exclusively date studs. Shit she was the first one at Amber Hill High to come out and do the shit proudly ." I laughed . " I mean it's not a big deal because she is a lesbian and can date whatever women she like. But Ryan ? With a fem . Nobody could tell me two years ago that was a thing."'I said .

"Girl exactly but let me hit you back. Buddha just pulled up." She giggled .

"It's that good sis? Make you hang up on your best friend . Ok . Heard and noted." I jokingly said.

" bitch how many times have you ditched me for Ryan's ass I don't want to hear it" she laughed.

"But I got to go bye love you." She said before ending the face time call.

I instantly busted out into tears as my real emotions returned. The truth is , I was a mess. Me and Ryan did talk and we did decide to work things out . She admitted to it being other girls and insisted that we work things out. She promised to cut the other women off and be all about me.

I was so hurt because I thought we was already on that . So I've been in the house for a few days eating buffalo cauliflower and binge watching Vampire Diaries . My mom had took a few days off from work because she was convinced my "stomach bug" was pneumonia.

I was actually happy to have her around . Even though I couldn't tell her exactly what was going on.

"You ready to discuss the real reason you been mopping around my house for three days straight." My mother asked as she returned back into the living room.

" I said I'm sick." I lied.

"Child please you haven't went to the bathroom once since I've been here . Now what's really tea." She said .

I chuckled , " Just relationship stuff. I know you don't want to hear about it so we can just end it there." I said as I tried to get up from the couch but she quickly pulled me down.

" we may not have the same beliefs but I'm always your mother first . Now sit down ." She said in a stern tone. I sat down slowly , grabbing a nearby cushion and squeezing it into my chest.

"It's Ryan. She's been cheating on me." I blurted out.

"That's because women are not suppose -

"Maaa see this is why we don't talk!" I whined.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry. Imma be quiet and let you vent . No more judgement . Ok." She said in a sincere tone.

I rolled my eyes , " long story short I caught her with another women." I said nonchalantly.

"So you guys are done? No?" She asked.

"No..." I said in a low tone.

She chuckled , " oh your ass embarrassed to say that huh? That's because you know you deserve better . Regardless of what gender you date. Imma always want you to want good for yourself . And Ryan is no good. I say dump her cheating ass and keep it pushing." She said

"Mom it's not that easy." I pleaded.

"Why it ain't?" She kissed her teeth " sex that good blue? You ain't learn nothing from me and all my toxic relationship?" She asked

"Mom Ryan is nothing like them niggas you bought around ." I said becoming offended.

"Oh girl defend your cheating ass lover but I will tell you this all cheaters are liars. If they cheated once they have lied already to you more than ten times. She'll cheat again. They always do." She said

"You couldn't just try and actually talk to me like a mom?" I said annoyed.

"I am . You're grown though Blue . I'm not going to sugar coat a motherfucking thang with you especially when you letting some girl walk all over you." She said

"But you've already decided to stay with her so I will say this . Protect not only your heart but your mental health because once a bitch or nigga got you mentally . They got you forever. NEVER give nobody the benefit of having you forever ESPECIALLY If they don't deserve you... Now I need you to come with me to a brunch tomorrow. Remember Mrs. Cheryl?" She asked

I just nodded .

"She moved back into town and she finally got custody of her daughter. You know that's why she left? That's what I'm talking bout , when I say letting somebody have you mentally. She fucked around and lost five years of her life chasing behind a nigga , only to get pregnant and the nigga get the child taken away from her." She shook her head.

" anyways . I want you to meet her daughter , Sage. So don't make any plans tomorrow afternoon." She said as she got up from the couch.

I just nodded. I picked up the Roku remote and resumed vampire Diaries. I hated when my mom spoke to me like that but most of all I hated she was right.
