Tony walked out the front doors to greet his fiance with a smile on his face. Although she was delighted to see him the nervous energy rolling off of him gave her pause.

"What did you do, Tony?" She asked as he reached for her.

He barked a laugh in response. "For once it wasn't me."

Pepper smiled at the pride on his face and followed him inside.

"Rogers has brought home another stray." Tony grimaced as they made their way over to the elevator. "And this one is even weirder than the first two."

"Come on Tony, Sam and James are perfectly..."

"No, this one is so much worse. She doesnt speak. Like at all. Can't get a peep out of her. Plus, she wears so many layers of clothes and they always have a hood. I can't even be sure there's a real person under all of that."

"Are you afraid of a little girl Tony?"

The man stepped into the elevator with a scoff but didn't openly deny the alligation.

"Rogers won't tell me anything about her. He just says that he met her at an emotional support meeting while... when..." he shook his head to dislodge the thought of all that had happened in the past few years. "And that she needed somewhere to stay."

"So let me get this straight." Pepper put a hand up in front of her to stop him as they exited the elevator. "You are afriad of a small homeless girl? Tony, I think maybe Steve is just trying to help."

"He's hiding something Pepper. Secrets make me uneasy."

They entered the common room behind steve who was standing with his arms crossed looking over the trio on the couches.

"What are they doing?" Tony asked, coming to stand beside him.

Sam and Bucky were sat on one of the couches in nearly identical stances. elbows on knees, with fingers pressed to their lips, as they stared at the pile of fabric on the seat opposite them.

"Trying to break her" Steve answered, an amused smile playing on his lips.

"That doesn't worry you?" Tony asked, studying the star spangled man who had yet to change out of his uniform but only got a shake his head in response.

Pepper joined the pair, wrapping an arm around Tony's waist and whispering something in his ear that had Steve wishing he didn't have super soldier hearing.

"Make sure they don't break the place down." Tony threw over his shoulder as Pepper pulled him from the room.

Steve laughed lightly at the happy couple before turning back to the odd one in front of him. His two best friends, finally bonding , albeit somewhat unconventionally. But then again, it had been a very long time since there was anything conventional in his life. He silently wondered how long it would take for them to break. He knew that girl would make sure she walked away victorious and he couldn't help but enjoy the torture she was inflicting on the two most important people in his life.

He got his answer mere moments later, when Sam stood abruptly and stomped his way out of the room murmuring curses under his breath. Bucky took a little longer, probably due to the serum he had been injected with all those years ago, but alas, he too got up with a huff, frustrated with the petite woman on the couch. Steve waited until they had both dissapeared from the room to throw himself down beside her.

"Y/N, are you ever going to let them know you're an actual person?" He asked, throwing his arm along the back of the couch behind her.

Slowly she turned to meet his gaze, "Where's the fun in that?"

He shook his head at her but couldnt contain the chuckle from pushing its way from his chest. With a gentle squeeze to her shoulder, he stood. "Im going to grab a shower and then start season 2 if you're interested."

Her face lit up at the mention of the '90s sitcom she had recently gotten him addicted to in wake of the ending of a current cop show. "You bet."

Steve exited his bathroom rubbing the water from his hair when he saw her. She was sat in the middle of his bed, having had discarded her many layers, leaving her in a tank top and boy-short underwear. He swallowed hard, not sure if he'd ever get used to the fact that she was most comfortable when wearing very little clothing. He wasnt sure if she knew how attractive she was, or if she was well aware and thats why she liked to be in this state of undress so often around him.

"When is your date with Sharon?" She asked, not bothering to look at him.

He ducked his head as heat flooded his face, feeling very much like the child caught with a hand in the cookie jar. "Must you?" He mumbled, moving over to the closet to pull on a shirt.

"I can't help it." She managed around a mouthful of the popcorn that was sat in her lap.

The mild lustful feeling faded into amusment and he was sure she had something to do with it. "The date is next week when she's back from D.C."

"Ooh, fun! Where are you taking her?" She asked as she shuffled over to allow his large frame on the bed beside her.

"I was thinking that new Italian place uptown. Then maybe a walk through central park." He grabbed some of the popcorn, pausing midway to his mouth when he noticed her face scrunched up in disgust. "Not good?"

"It's not bad..." she started slolwy, rolling an idea over in her head. "There's this great little jazz club downtown. Live music, good and light food, great bar,"

Steve opened his mouth to protest but she rushed to continue before he could utter a word.

"I know, you dont feel the effects of alcohol but she can and the girl deserves a good drink. Plus, I just think dinner and dancing suits all this better." She laughed, waving her hand up and down his form.

"I'm not much of a dancer." Steve groaned, a faint memory if the boy he used to be flashing in his mind.

"Well, you have a week to learn." She smiled warmly at him before picking up the remote. "Now, shut up so we can watch this."
