Chapter 1:
Running. The black cape draped over her pitch black hair. Her feet pounding against the grass. The sun burning her back, smoke drifting up into the air. The men ran behind her, wooden stakes set firmly in their hands.
Trees. No more trees. No where left to hide. She was trapped. They gained closer. Her insides twisted and if she could breath at all she would be panting by now.
A wooden stake flew towards her. The sharp wooden end looking pointier and pointier as it grew closer. She ducked, the stake stabbing the bark just above her head. The men carried on running towards her. She has no choice, it was time to go out into the burning sunlight with out even the tiniest bit of shade to protect her.
The men didn't stop. They yanked out the stake and carried on running. Their feet crunching the leafs beneath them. They wern't giving up until that vampire was dust.
"Run Brie, run" murmured Vance in his restless sleep. His red eyes burst open as he shot up, banging his head on the door of his state of the arts coffin 2000. "Ow!" he moaned as the open the door of his coffin. "I have got to stop doing that" he told himself as he rubbed his forehead. With in a flash he was at his desk. As he snapped his fingers four small candles set alight, allowing the room to be dimly lighted. He rubbed his eyes as his eyes adjusted to the room. "Nightmare" He said.
************
A black bat flew toward the castle like school. As it approached the window the the attic the glass slid open, letting it in. The bat landed on the blood red carpeted floor. Slow it began to grow, its wings turned to arms and its body became clothed. "I'm back" the bat (now man) growled.
The man ran over to a chair with abnormal speed. "How was hunting sir?" a servant asked hanging his head in respect.
"Quiet good, I got to help myself to a pint" The man smiled. The servant replied with a small nod of amazement.
The door to the dinning room swung open as Vance entered, His school bag over his shoulder and his yellow tie hanging by his neck.
"Did the Chosen One sleep well?" The man asked.
"Shut up dad" Vance sighed, though no air came from his mouth.
"Can't you call me Prince? It's a bit weird for the Chosen One to call someone dad isn't it" Vance's father said.
"I'm not calling you Prince dad and I don't care if its your name, you are my father and that's what I'm calling you" Vance said firmly.
"Fine" Prince growled. "Vance I don't care what you do in the day but at night you should be hunting with me. As a bat"
Vance's eyes darken with annoyance. He was not going to ever turn into a bat and he was definitely never going to drink blood, from a human or animal. "I'm never turning into a bat. It's weird and disgusting" He stated.
"Oh but there is no better feeling then soring above the city, wind under your wings and in you fur" Prince Said dreamily looking to the sky.
"You're a flying rodent"
"So? Next year when you become Grand High Vampire you need to be ready, and that means becoming a flying rodent some day."
Vance blinked and looked away. Everything always had to tie into him become Grand High Vampire.
His father picked up the paper glaring at Vance. He took one glance at the paper and shook in shock.
"What wrong?" Vance asked dryly "Bottles of blood prices gone up?"
