Usually, people wake up with a frown when the sun shines down their face. At least most people I know of wake up with a scowl.
However, I couldn’t help the smile when I felt the warmth on my face that seeped through my window. I lifted my body with a stretch and inhaled deeply, letting out a content sigh.
Another beautiful day in a beautiful world, with my beautiful people.
I giggled at my internal monologue, eager to see the warm picture of my parents at breakfast.
With that thought, I quickly jumped out of bed and into the bathroom. It didn’t take me long before I was downstairs in a pair of black jeans with my pink top. I had pulled my dark hair up in a ponytail and put on mascara. I applied my favorite pink gloss to make my lips pouty and shiny.
I heard a soft laugh as I turned into the hallway. Then a whisper in a deep voice when I walked into the kitchen and there they were, my parents. As per the usual scene, I saw my mother in the embrace of my dad as he had her circled from behind while she flipped pancakes.
My eyes widened at the sight of my favorite shoufle panckes, and I jumped on dad's back in exclamation.
"Yay! I love you, mom!" My lips stretched into a wide grin.
Have I mentioned yet? I LOVE my parents!
Mom turned her head up and peered at me with a smile of her own.
"Sit at the table. It's almost done." She said while carefully flipping another pancake. Dad didn't move his eyes from mother but let out a chuckle when I tightened my hold around his neck.
"Dad will bring me to table." I announced mischievously. I knew what effect it had on my dad when he groaned.
"Why do you do this, princess? Always trying to separate me from your mom, huh?" He inquired, but there was no complain in his voice. I couldn't help but giggle at the pout on his face, whilst Mom shook her head at our interaction.
"I'm not seperating you dad. I'm just helping mom by giving her space to breath. You are always clinging to her." I complained.
That's right. My dad and mom were the perfect example of a couple deeply in love. It's been 25 years since they got together and there's been not even a single day my dad had left her side for single day. Even aunt Hannah complains whenever she tries to steal mom away for a girl's day out. But I love it. I love how they are. The perfect mates.
It always makes me giddy whenever I think that in a month I would be 18 and finally able to sense my mate. It was an absurd requirement but also necessary because new born vampires took at least 18 years to have their senses develop completely.
But that couldn't stop me from fantasizing about my mate. How would he look like? Would he be older than me? Would he also be a vampire or a human? What if he is younger than me? Would that matter? Would he also love me as much as dad loves my mom?
Whenever I thought about him, a thousand questions would race through my mind. But I guess I would have to wait to find the answer to all those.
I was brought back to reality with a yelp when dad dropped me on the chair.
"Back to earth, princess." Dad flipped my head gently but it still startled me.
I covered my head meanwhile leveling him with a soft galre.
"Mom! Dad's being a meanie again." I complained aloud, earning me another flip on the head by dad just as I had lowered my hands.
However, as expected of my lovely mother, dad got his payback. Mom flipped his head oh-not-so gently, causing him to groan. But that didn't deter him from grabbing her wrist and kissing her fingers before pulling her gently so that she was also sitting beside him on the chair.
