Chapter 39: The Final Battle

~Slither Inc.~

The top of the building exploded as civilians were running for their lives. 

Sho looked up at the smoke, his hands shaking in fear. 

"Wow, my hands is really shaking... I can't let my fear control me! I mean, sure, I'm, scared... But I've made up my mind! I'm going to see this thing through to the end!!" He rev up the engine and drives. "I'm almost there, Midoriya! Just hang in there!! "

~Slither Inc.- President's Office~

Izuku jumps out of the way of Serpent's attacks, but suffers gravely. 

"All of the anger in the world! The despair! The fear! All of it gives me strength!!"

"You can talk all you want, Serpent! I'm going to defeat you! This time... I'll protect everyone!!" Izuku shouted.

"Don't make me laugh, boy!" Serpent shoots him with an energy blast, sending the boy flying into the wall. 

Izuku got back up despite his injuries. "I won't lose!!" He pulls out Model X and Z and merges into Model ZX. "Serpent!! I'm going to defeat you!!"

"Hmph... You will fail!!" Serpent attacks Izuku once again. "This silly little dream you have of saving the world... It ends here!!"

Just then Sho lands onto the floor. 

"Sho?!" Izuku was surprised to see him.

"I'll explain later! Just take these!!" Sho throws him the Biometals. "I've done my part! Now it's your turn!!" He said with a thumps up.

"You impudent human!! Take this!!" Serpent fires at Sho.

"Too late, Serpent! Looks like I get the last laugh! Now I'm a hero too..." Sho's body fell off the building never to be seen again.

Anger filled Izuku as the floor underneath him started to crumble. The power of One for All given to him by All Might started to spark around him. He switches to Model HX and slashes him in high speed.

Model LX with an Ice Dragon attack and the finishing move with Model FX's Ground Break. 

"Nothing's working!" Izuku saw that none of his attacks did anything at the newly evolved Serpent.

Serpent attacks only this time Izuku wasn't able to dodge and fell to the ground. Demerging from Model FX. The necklace Giro gave him broke off and dropped across from him.

"Giro's... Necklace... I don't stand a chance... Is... Is this how it's going to end...?"

"You are just one small boy... you cannot hope to defeat a god!! Wallow in the anguish of futility and helplessness as I end your miserable life!!" Serpent towered over his crippled body.

Izuku's eyes were blank as he started losing conscious. 

"...-Uku..." He could hear someone's voice then recognized the voice as Prairie's.

"If you can hear me, say something!!" She said.

"Mr. Midoriya!!" Fleuve shouted.

Izuku's body twitched as his vision came back.

"Prairie...? Fleuve...?" He murmured.

"Yes! He's alive!" Prairie exclaimed with joy. 

"We were able to fix our comm systems! Everyone is cheering for you, Mr. Midoriya!!" Fleuve said.

"Listen to them, Izuku! Listen to their voices!!"

He listen to the voices of everyone. The heroes, the Guardians, the citizens, and students. The entire world shouted for him to win.

"Don't give up, Izuku!"

"You can defeat Serpent!!"

"You can do it!"

"Get up, Izuku!!"

Izuku stretched his arm out, reaching for the necklace. "Everyone...?"

'That's right, Izuku! You're not alone... I'm with you... Everyone's with you! So don't give up!!'

"Don't give up yet."

 All the Biometals appeared as positive energy from all around the world is flowing into him. 

"Your battle is not over."

"We did not lend you our power just to let you carry out some kind of petty revenge..."

"Beating up someone just because you don't like them is nothing more than the action of a playground bully."

"Don't give in to the hate. If you fight the flow, you just end up swimming in place."

"Even in the darkest tunnel, there is always a light at the end of it for you to follow."

Models X and Z started to hover around him.

"Your power is not based on hate. Your real power. Your wellspring of bravery lies within you!"

"Look within yourself!"

A bright light engulfed him. "You're right. I made a promise to you on that day! I said I will protect the people! All of them!" He grabs Model X and Z as he megamerges with all six Biometals. "Double Mega-Merge!! Overdrive!! Model ZX!!"

"Well then. If you're so sure of yourself, let's find out which Mega Man is destined to rule the world!" Serpent said.

"I don't care about ruling the world! Serpent, if you want to be the Mega Man destined to rule the world, then I am the Mega Man that is destined to save it!"

Rocks start to fall from the ceiling as the room is falling apart.

"You're no Mega Man, and you're no ruler. You're just a tool. Model W manipulated you. You've played with lives and you're nothing more than a Maverick!" Izuku shouted.

"A Maverick!? Me!? How dare you call me a Maverick! You're the one stopping progress. You're the one denying change. Maybe you're the Maverick! People and society are destined for change! They must shed their hate-filled hearts and suffering bodies. We must move forward! We must have change!" Serpent argued. "I will not let anyone get stepped on in your road to "progress! On a planet... Life is born... Humans and machines... Waves of war and peace roll on. And in every age, a fool like you tries to fight it. You don't want to see anyone get hurt. You want to protect the ones you care about. You don't want to lose anything. By acting on that desire, you continue to make choices that avoid the pain. The Mega Man destined to save the world? Unchanging life... A world devoid of the light of hope. What's the point!?"

The six Biometals demerge and hover around Vent again.

"Izuku! Everything's falling apart! You've got to get out of here!" 

Slither Inc. building started to collapse. Serpent's voice is heard from the remains of his Model W Core merged form.

"The destiny of destruction... still awaits... So long as you have hearts, hate will lurk in the shadows... You who possess the wellspring of emotion known as the heart... You are the true Mavericks!!" Serpent explodes as the Slither Inc. building collapses.
