A woman ran out chanting all sorts of praises in yoruba. She had just come from the palace and by the words she said, everyone knew it was about the battle with Owu.
"Aremu Akande has done it again ohhhh. He has won Owu's Are-Ona-Kankafo", the woman shouted in Yoruba.
It was a great victory. Apata was under the rule of Owu but with their great development, they were able to break away.

Hye Soo was now eighteen years of age. She had grown tall like her mother, Shade, had been. Mrs Kim, while  Hye Soo was sleeping, would come to look at her and be calling her, 'Shade'. Several occasions Hye Soo was conscious enough to hear. Who was Shade?. How does she know my Umma(mother)? are questions Hye Soo asked herself.
With the victory came success and jubilation in town. The church Hye Soo's parents headed was now very popular with a large number of members in every gathering; many, to see these foreigners who preached in English. Hye Soo was the interpreter. She understood Korea, English and Yoruba. Mr and Mrs Kim did not know how she did it. They had home schooled her as both of them had good teaching skills. What they didn't know was that Hye Soo caught up quickly from Iya Kunle's mother-in-law, Granny Kunle as Hye Soo called her. The church hosted a small party or feast to celebrate the victory. Hye Soo has always had a lovely voice. Using the three languages she knew so well, she sang different songs in praises to GOD for HIS mercies and for the victory. Time to eat came and almost all the members had prepared food. They were now close to hundreds of members. Those who held grudges against another made peace on that day. Hye Soo was so happy.
When they arrived home after dinner, Hye Soo say on the floor in between her mother's thighs. Her father sat across her. They were playing a game that the couple had brought from Korea.
"Hye Soo ah", Mr Kim called as he moved his game.
"Neh, Abba(yes, father)", she moved a game, smiling as her mother tickled her ears.
"If you win me", he smiled at the though, "I will give you anything you ask for". Hye Soo smiled and looked up at her mother who smiled down at her.
"That is how he brags because he knows that he always wins", she said but Hye Soo had something in mind that was bigger motivation compared to Abba's bragging; to know who Shade really is and why Granny Kunle always tell her to ask her parents who Shade is.
"Abba, you cannot go back on your word", she warned in Korea but her father answered in English,
"You talk too much, go ahead but you have to win first".
It was the last move she made and bang, Hye Soo won. Mr Kim and his wife looked surprised. Hye Soo has never won within such s short time before. In fact she has only won once of which Mr Kim aided her so she will not feel disappointed. That game lasted almost an hour.
"Neh, Neh, Neh(yes, yes, yes)". Hye Soo jumped up and down the room happily. She knew she had won fair and square. Umma gave her a peck and sat down looking at her husband who cleared his throat and looked at the dancing girl.
