An Ego is a side of somebody - their host - that separates at some point during their lives. They are slingshotted across the Earth, throwing them into a different, completely random place. It could be halfway across the world, it could be next door. The Ego will fight for survival against other murderous Egos as a vicious power play for most of their lives. The weaker you seem, the bigger target you are.
Every Ego has ties to their hosts. They can be on the other side of the world, the two may never meet.
An Ego will spend their whole lives looking for their host, very few will ever meet them. But those who do waste no time in killing them. When they do, they get incredible abilities, putting them at the top of the Egos food chain. They become powerful.
Thats all anyone wanted. That's all Anti wanted. An Ego wants to feel safe.
Anti would feel safe.
