You tell me how to love

You tell me how to dress

You tell me who I am

You tell me I'm a mess

It's not ok to be me, you say

You can't be who you want

It isn't socially acceptable

This can't be what you want

Maybe you're ill

Maybe you're confused

When will they learn

I'm just being me

The bible says it's unnatural

You can't reproduce

You shouldn't do this to yourself

Just be who we want

This is just a phase

Go do as you're told

Don't cut off your long hair

You're beautiful as you are

Maybe they're right

Maybe I'm a freak

I shouldn't want to be that

I shouldn't want to have them

I dress how they like

I act how they want

I be who they want me to be

Who they dream me to grow up

When I show them the new me

They smile and nod

They completely ignore

My look that pleads for help

One look in the mirror

And I know this isn't me

I feel trapped in my own body

Afraid to be me

Stop homophobia

Or your child could end up like me

Trapped in my own body

Afraid to be me
