Meeting The Dorm

"April!"

A small groan left my mouth, I think I just about managed to make it sound as if I was doing a kind of 'eh' noise but I didn't even have to turn around, knowing exactly who that voice belonged to.

"Heya Jenny!" I replied with fake enthusiasm once I'd turned around. Great, I get a strange overly happy girl as a dorm mate, I just hope that everyone else in the dorm is normal!

God how am I going to survive this hell hole? Help me. Please.

"I can just tell that we're going to be best friends! Aren't we? Hmm?"

Not bothering to reply I just made a noise that sounded as if it could mean 'yes' OR 'no'.

"April, will you share a bunk-bed with me? You can go top or bottom, I don't mind but I'd rather go on the bottom because I tend to get a little leakage sometimes, you know, down there. So I need easy access to the bathroom. Which then might soak through the mattress if I'm on top and then sadly, onto your face."

After seeing my rather disgusted face at the thought of having her pee all over my face and bed clothes, I think she decided to go on.

"So actually sorry, that would mean top bunk for you."

"Erm, don't we have assigned beds?"

Just as she's about to reply, there is a squeaky creak coming from the now opening door. As I hold my breath, praying that this person looks normal, a large girl with beautiful brunette hair, pasty white face, and a funky looking pair of sunnies on her head walks in. Ah she looks normal.

"Hi, I'm Jemima but you can call me Jem," she said brightly.

"Hello Jem, I'm April," I introduced in what I hoped sounded like a happy tone.

"I'm Jenny!" Jenny grinned.

Jem nodded at us both, after giving Jenny and I a subtle once over, in greeting and then told us that she was going down to get her other bag. I offered some help but she graciously declined. Good, I don't think I could handle more bag carrying, I only offered to sound nice.

After Jenny and I checked out the en-suite, which turned out to be rather lovely if I do say, it was huge! I mean three basins? A bath, shower, loo, that little basin toilet thingy next to the loo (what is that?!), cupboards, shelves and racks to put makeup and wash bags on, towel rails and most importantly a laundry basket. It seemed like this was a completely different room from the rest of the house/mansion.

Jem arrived back at the dorm a few moments later, huffing and puffing, probably wishing that she had taken me up on my very kind offer to help. With a small, round girl following her with a worried expression on her chubby face.

"Hiya there, I'm Jenny and you must be our other room mate?"

"Yep, that's me, I'm Beatrice but please, call me Bea." There was then a quiet chorus of 'hi's' and 'hey's' from everyone. Well now that everyone was in the dorm we all looked at each other and smiled. This suddenly didn't seem so bad anymore. We all looked like a friendly bunch for the dorm and everyone seemed nice so far apart from that girl on the stairs, boy am I glad to be not in her dorm.

"You should totally check out the bathroom" Jenny all but squealed.

"Yeah, it's pretty sick" I added. I looked over the dorm once more, feeling a little repulsed at the thought of having to stay here for a weeks. But, this was going to be home for that oh so long period of time and I was going to have to do something about this room. The layout was absolutely terrible and someone needed to take charge and that person was going to have to be me.

"Alright! Judging by everybody's faces, I think we all know that this room needs to have a change around so that everything is more accessible." I said in my outdoor voice.

After getting a series of nods from everyone, Jem yelled "Right! Let's get to work team!"

We had a couple of hours to settle in and we all managed to move the beds, couches, drawers and even the two wardrobes into a relatively comfortable arrangement within just half an hour. The room was a rather awkward shape with a large chunk taken out of it for the bathroom. Leaving a narrow - almost corridor width - room but with a larger square a bit further away from the door. We had moved the two bunk beds so that they were almost head to head against one wall and the chest of drawers at either end of them. The wardrobes were next to each other on the wall opposite and the couches were sat in the corner facing each other by the windows. Then promptly flopped onto the couches to rest for a bit.

Just as I was just about to ask if we had a set bed arrangement, there was a loud alarm bell, warning us that something bad was happening.

"FIRE ALARM GIRLS! GET DOWNSTAIRS AND ONTO THE DRIVE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, LEAVE ALL BELONGINGS BEHIND AND DO NOT MAKE ANY SORT OF COMMUNICATION WITH ANY OTHERS AS YOU WALK DOWN THE STAIRS. IF WE HEAR ANY TALKING ALL WILL BE PUNISHED! SAME APPLIES IF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IS NOT DOWN ON THE DRIVE IN THIRTY SECONDS!" An extremely loud, manly voice shouted in a thick British accent.

This sounds exciting, please note my sarcasm, it looks like this man is a great big deal of fun. Well I better get downstairs before I get everyone punished, that would be a cracking start to making new friends here wouldn't it?
