Y/N's POV

"Mi nieta, it's time to wake up" Tia said opening my curtains. "But it's so early. I don't want to go to school" I said groaning. "I know Y/N but it's your last year. You can do it" Tia said. 

"For you I'll do it" I said smiling and getting out of my bed. Since Damon cheated on me with Elena, I sent him a break up text and ignored any on-going calls from the Elena gang. 

I got rid of my phone and moved schools and houses in order to get away from them. All I could feel was pain. 

Damon was always there for me, he was my everything, he helped me move on from my father and little brother's death. He showed me the world through a new lens and I'm so thankful for that but once a cheater, always a cheater. 

I looked in the mirror and saw the intense dark circles under my eyes. Night after night, I still cry because the pain is still unbearable, I wish I was a vampire and could turn it all off. 

I hop into the shower and let the warm water soothe my tense muscles. I get dressed and drive to school. 

At School

"Y/N, did you hear about the new news?" my friend whisper shouted into my ear. "Alyssa, can you be anymore loud?" I said annoyed. She rolled her eyes, "Elena is dead" she said and my eyes widen. 

"What?!" I said. "HOW?" I said shocked. "You remember the hot lunatic Kai Parker. Well he kinda've did something to Bonnie and Elena and now Elena is in a bed ridden coma. She won't be waking up anytime soon" Alyssa said. 

"Wow. I know she wasn't my favorite person in the world but I wouldn't have wished her this" I said. "Well... as a founding family, I have to attend the memorial for her and I want you to come with me" Alyssa said. 

I looked at her with bug eyes. "Alyssa" I said but she cut me off, "NO, I don't want to hear it! It's been a year now Y/N. You have to face reality and be strong. I know it still hurts but the best thing you can do is to show him up. Let them see how much you've grown as a person and how you don't need to hurt other people in order to make yourself feel better!!!" Alyssa preached and my eyes watered. 

I hugged her. "Thank you for always being here for me Alyssa Lockwood" I said. "No problem. Also, we're staying at my cousin's house" Alyssa said. "TYLER!!!" I said smiling. "Ewww. He's so cocky" Alyssa said. "But he is hot" I said. Alyssa play punched me, "Alright. Let's go" I said. 

6 hours later

"Alyssa, wake up!" I said. "What? Where? OH!" Alyssa grumbled. "We're here" I said nervously. 

The mystic falls grill sign greeted us in big letters. "Are you okay?" she said sympathetically. "I'll be fine. This was going to happen sooner or later" I said. We got out of the car and went inside. Instantly, we saw Tyler and Matt. 

Their eyes were shocked when they saw me but they soon warmed up. "Hey cuz" Alyssa screeched and Tyler cringed. "I see you never lost that chipmunk voice of yours" Tyler joked and she punched him which Matt gives her a high five for.
