Chapter 4

"YOU DID WHAT" Maya yelled. Aria winced and pulled the phone away from her ear. Luckily, Naomi was still over today and could drive her in.

She was still royally pissed off at Alex, and had made a point of being asleep when he left. He had still come into her room though, asking if she was awake. He sounded sad, but she couldn't care less.

"Stop yelling!" Aria groaned. "BUT YOU KISSED BRETT!" Maya yelled, ignoring her warning. "Yeah?! So what!" Aria laughed. "HE'S THE SECOND HOTTEST GUY IN SCHOOL!" Aria raised her eyebrow. " after your brother" Maya added. Aria winced, "First" she corrected.

"Your just saying that because he's your brother" Maya laughed. "His face might not be horrific to look at, but his personality is." She could picture Maya rolling her eyes, " does he know about you and Brett" Aria hesitates, long enough for Maya to guess the answer.

"He's going to kill you" she stated. "No because he's not going to find out! And it's none of his business anyway" "he's your twin brother, and you're dating his best friend"

Aria sighed, "I'll tell him, eventually" "the sooner the better" "I think he'd want me to be happy! At least I'm not dating Zach Anderson" she replied, trying to convince herself.

"I mean that wouldn't be a complete bad thing, apart from the fact your brother would kill both of you." Aria laughed, nodding. "I'll tell him, later" she promised.

"You'd better" Maya warned, before the line clicked dead. Aria heaved a sigh and quickly got dressed, running downstairs.

Naomi was lying on the sofa, watching the news and her dad was reading a newspaper on three armchair. He looked up as she walked in. "What did you and Alex fight about now" he asked, putting the newspaper down.

"Nothing dad" she lied, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I beg to differ" Naomi muttered. Aria raised her eyebrow in question. "He came downstairs cursing like a sailer" her dad filled in. "And his tongue was sharper than a knife" Naomi grumbled.

"Your references are that of an eighty year old woman" Aria remarked, rolling her eyes, typical Alex, some freshman is going to feel his wrath. "Let's go" She chirped, dragging Naomi off the sofa.

"Bossy" she mumbled, grabbing her shoes. Aria stuck her tongue out at her older sister and got in the car. After what seemed like a decade they arrived at school.

"I mean Alex drives like a Formula 1 racer but that was a new level of slow" Aria remarked, getting out the car. Naomi stuck her tongue out, saying goodbye before pulling out the cat park.

Aria turned around and saw Brett and Alex walking towards the changing rooms and ducked behind the science building. Not only because she wanted to avoid Alex, but she didn't know what to say to Brett.

"What are you doing?" Aria turned round in shock and saw Maya standing, hands on hips. "I was just going to class!" She protested, her face growing red. "Right, more like hiding from Brett" Maya snorted. "No I'm hiding from Alex" she said smugly. "Right" Maya wasn't convinced.

"Let's just go to class okay?" Aria tried to keep the look of desperation off her face. "Fine" her best friend couldn't keep the edge out of her voice.

Maya kept shooting her looks throughout the day, like she wanted to say something. Aria knew what she was thinking, so never said anything to her.

"Seriously" Aria laughed, showing Maya what was on her phone. Some of their friends had gone out partying and their drunken posts had just shown up on her feed.

Maya nodded, biting her lip, before shooting her another look. "Okay spit it out" Aria huffed, frustrated. "It's just" Maya fiddled with the ring around her finger, "you need to talk to Brett"
