Killer Frost Origins {✓}

Snowflakes

It all began yesterday, when the sun faded out of the sky and never returned. A morning frost came in as the cloudy sky was ready to cry out a storm from the heartbreak the sun gave him.
   A young girl ran around the house as she chased her sister. Crystal laughed as she tapped Caitlin's back, "You're it!"
  "Hey!" Caitlin turned around.
   The girls ran around in loops as they sped through the living room into the kitchen.
   "Girls!" their mother cried. "What have I said about running in the house?"
   They stopped and looked at their mother to apologize.
   She walked away to get the rest of the shopping from the car as the girls followed to help.
   "Thanks a lot Caitlin," Crystal blamed.
   "What did I do?"
   "You started it."
   "No, you did. It was your idea," Caitlin pointed out.
   "Yeah, but you started it."
   "Because you told me to go first."
   "Exactly, so you started it."
   "You're such a bitch," Caitlin named Crystal.
   "Girls!" their mother heard Caitlin. "Caitlin, apologize now!"
   "I don't think so," Caitlin disagreed.
   "Apologize or go to your room," their mother demanded.
   "Fine," Caitlin walked to her room.
   "Great parenting, Mum," Crystal remarked.

Inside the walls that caved her inside, she stared at the ceiling from her bed as she imagined a world full of snow falling down into her hands. A knock at the door was followed by her mother's entrance as she went and sat on her daughter's bed.
   "Caitlin, sweetie," she grabbed her daughter's ankle.
   "I did nothing wrong."
   "That doesn't matter. It's about knowing when to end the fight. It's always better to end it than start it."
   "But I didn't start it!" Caitlin sat up as her mother's hand was no longer resting on her.
   "I know," her mother calmly spoke.
   "If you knew, then why'd you send me to my room?"
   "Because I made Crystal continue to help with the shopping."
   Caitlin didn't speak another word as she giggled with her mother. She grabbed onto her little legs as she tried to wrap her arms around them. Her mother nudged herself up the bed to hold onto her youngest child.

The rage in the storm echoed. A blitz of lightning struck a million times in the sky as rain heavily poured down. The little girls curled up under their blankets on the couch as their eyes continued to watch the televised show. A little water drop blinked onto Caitlin's face. Then another one landed on her nose. Another two dropped on her hair as she looked up. She wanted to see frosty flakes and snow drop in front of her eyes while she sat inside. Her father watched the girls as he noticed Caitlin's hair change to a cloudy shade as the water formed into snow. A frost shivered onto Caitlin as she saw a flake sitting on her finger.
   "What the..." Crystal saw the ceiling. 
   Caitlin looked at her then back up and saw the leak was dripping snowflakes. 
   "How is it snowing? Inside?"
   "Wow," Caitlin was stunned.
   She uncovered herself as the flakes fell into her hands as she could smell the fresh air of snow in her lungs. She collected a bunch then throw them onto Crystal. Crystal stared her sister down as she tossed the blanket off her toward Caitlin as the snow that covered it went into her face. The girls continued to throw the frosted flakes at each other until their parents dragged them off the couch and sent them to their rooms to clean up the mess.......

She sat in front of a group of screens. In the North Pole, Caitlin sat on the chair that used to be her father's. Cisco walked in as Caitlin continued to stare at one of the screens that played a memory of her father's.
   "What are you doing?" Cisco asked.
   Caitlin turned around in the chair as tears rolled down her cheeks.
   "What is it? Did you find something?"
   "Why don't I remember her?" Caitlin sobbed.
   Cisco grabbed Caitlin into his arms as he let her cry on his shoulder.
   "I don't get it."
   "Neither do I," Cisco looked at the screen that replayed an old video as he turned it off.
