When I wake up, I notice Coda's not there. I get up from the couch and I glance over at the kitchen table. I see Coda has made eggs and toast. And then a small piece of paper beside the plate of breakfast. I walk over to the note and read it;

Hey. In case you're wondering why I left, I got a call at 2;30am from the hospital. I had to leave. Im very sorry. Text me when you get this. Enjoy your breakfast!

I grab my phone and quickly eat my food. When I text Coda, He doesn't respond. I wait another two minutes and still, nothing. I go up to see if my aunts awake. I find her laying on the bed checking her texts.

" Hey, I'm going to go check on mom." I say. She looks up at me and replies " Okay, be back soon." With A smile. " I'm glad you have the heart to visit your mom every day. It's Pretty sad for a girl your age she's sick." "Bye." I say quickly , and head to the hospital.

When I get to the hospital, there is no sign of Coda. I go and check on my mom and she seems alright. They still haven't figured out what is wrong. I go to the front desk and ask for Coda one more time but still, no sign of Coda. I don't know what else to do but walk back home. When I get home, I let my aunt know. Again, without my mom and without Coda, I'm bored out of my mind. After a few minutes of staring at the ceiling, I decide to go outside to the Meadow tree. And that's when I see him.

He doesn't notice me at first, but then he looks up I see he's crying. I sit down next to him. " What's Wrong?" I say. " My mom." he says. "Aw man" I say looking at the ground. Coda looks up at me tears streaming down his checks. "Its okay..." I try to say but coda interrupts me and yells,"NO, IT'S NOT! She's..... Dead." he finished. I felt like a rock hit me. Coda's words stuck in my head, "She's dead" Weakly I walk over to the bench and sit down. I put my arm around him and I wipe off his tears with my sleeve. He leans in to me and rests his head on my shoulder. I stroke his hair, and we sit together in silence. A few minutes later, he stops crying. " They are going to send me to a Orphanage." He says. His eyes are still red from crying. I stare at him for a few seconds, and then I think of something. "Wait a second..." I say. " We have a guest room at our house.. Maybe you can stay with me!!" I grab his arm and we walk to my house. When we get there, I run through the door and run into my aunts room. I explain what's going on.
My aunt says "YES!" and we get so excited, that we pull into a awkward hug. Then we realise that we've been hugging four like a minute in a half, so I pull away. "How about a tour?" I awkwardly say. Coda smiles. Alright.. Lets go."
