I walked out the door to be greeted with the cold Harlem air. I made my way down the porch steps and started walking to the corner store. As I was walking I heard gunshots going off from a distance, this is a daily thing so I wasn't phased by it. Police never came around this part of NYC because "traffic" is always bad; but we all know it's because they too scared to come around here. I was snapped out of my thoughts when a dead body came into my view. He looked so lifeless, so... depressed. I stared for a minute then quickly opened the door to the corner store.
"Hey Mani"
Liberty is the only person in my family who isn't either in jail , or dead. I met her at my mom's funeral four years ago; turns out she was my cousin. She seemed coo' so I told her to hit me up.
"Wassup Lexi?"
"Nothin' . . you know that's Jacobi's body out their right?" she said looking at me with a questionable look on her face. Jacobi was a nigga who was in the game. He use to work for Klink, the fourth largest drug dealer in Harlem. Even though I didn't know him that well and the fact that he was only 15, he was a chill kid.
"Damnn man... are you serious?!" I said with a serious tone.
"Yeah he was trynna get out of the game, and you know the only way out is death." She said looked like she was on the verge of crying, she seemed so upset about this nigga she barley knew, I mean they were friends and all but i never seen them really talk.
