"June!" "June!" "Just one more question." The reporters screamed in my face while cameras flashes were blinding me. "Wait what did you say?" I said starting to go dizzy. My heart started to beat faster and I couldn't move. Breathing each time felt like i. Was. Carrying. millions of pounds until. Thud. I fell on the ground. All i remember was some strong person picked me up and drove away.
I am 16 years old and i am the first person every to live in a prison boarding school. the school isn't that bad, i get three meals a day, ac and a tv. I'm living hear because my parents were thieves, they were the biggest thieves of Braget city. when i was three, they stole a diamond and got caught. Their job was being a detective and when they got arrested i was left all by myself no one wanted to take me in because of my parents. No orphanage or foster home would take me, so my dad's best friend made a prison boarding school for kids who has parents that got arrested.
"Yo June." I was writing in the journal that my grandma got me many years ago. My grandma is old so she can't take me in so i still live here. It was Olivia, she was standing outside of my cell and she is the second longest person that has ever lived here. The first is me. "Graham and i are going to the cafeteria to get a smoothie. It's smoothie hour. Want to come?" I knew that I couldn't just mope around my cell for the entire day so i knew that i needed to socialize. "Sure why not."
Graham is the cutest boy here, he is really smart and very athletic. One time i even caught him arm wresting with the prisoners. All of the prisoners know his name and they all look up to him as a legend.
I closed my journal and jumped out of my bed. Outside of my cell was graham leaning against the wall wearing some old jeans, a red t-shirt, a beanie, and cheap high tops. "So later Olivia and i are going to see our parents tonight. Want to come?" Graham always asks for someone to visit his parents with him. I know it may not sound like the coolest thing to do but it is the sweetest thing to hear a guy being selfless. But, i always turn him down on the offer. I don't want speak to my parents. This mess is all of their fault so why would i be a good daughter when they couldn't even last 3 years without stealing. "Um sorry no. I don't really feel like talking to them." We continued down hall and we reached the gateway to the stairs graham rushed forward and held the door open for us. "I hope that he didn't see me blushing." I thought to myself. But this was a childhood crush, i will get over it. "Hey June." Olivia said. "Yeah." I replied holding on to the railing. "Race you down." Olivia sprinted off her step and raced down the stairs. I tried to get after her but she made it right before i got to the door. I was panting so hard i could literally feel my heart beating as if were to explode out of my chest. Olivia and I turned and looked up and saw that graham was just walking down the stairs with his hands in his pockets. "And i think i beat both of you down the stairs." And jumped down the last step leaving a thud behind him and creating an echo around the stairs. "Wow, i think that i need to lay off of the carbs." Olivia and i laughed so hard i almost lost my balance. After i caught my breath And almost died of laughter i turned around and opened the door. It was the most squeaky door of all time. But i think that it would be like that because In case of an intruder coming in you could hear it. Olivia, graham and i were walking down the last hallway to get to the cafeteria when we started to hear some yelling. Olivia heard it too. We looked at each other and realized that it was a guy. Someone that i have never seen before. he must have muscles on his muscles. He had tan skin and had the most serious face. "You now drop and give me ten!" The man yelled. "You three." He looked at us. "What are you doing in here." "We were going to grab some smoothies before our gym class." Graham said trying to look confident but I knew that he was scared out of his mind. "Well go to your locker room and get ready and make sure that you are there on time, you should be prepared to sweat!" I was so scared but i new i had to try to fix this problem. "Excuse me." I said with a million voice cracks. "What!" "I'm June and i was wondering what is your name?" "My name?" he screamed. "I am your new general, and you are going to call me general Gary." "Ok." I said with a quiet voice. "No, you are going to say yes sir to me when i give you information or i tell you to do something." "Yes sir." I said and it was extremely quiet you could hear a pin drop. Graham turned around and we ran out of the cafeteria. once we got far enough we slowly started to talk. "Who is general Gary and what happened to our old general Bernard?" Olivia said. "I have no clue but i am going to ask Felix." Five minutes before gym class I already had my uniform on and i went to go to Felix and tell him to tell us why Gary is here. I went down the hallway to Felix's office and i looked to the left of me and there were people meeting the prisoners. I stopped and i saw a little girl she must have been the age of five or so. Behind her was Felix. He had his hand on her shoulder. The girl started to cry. I wanted to see what was going on so i ran as fast as i could to the visitation room and of course I'm not a fast runner but once i made it around the corner Felix and the little girl were coming out. "Hey." I said panting. the little girl was crying. I squatted down and tried to look her in her eyes. Her pale skin was covered in her tears and her blonde hair was held up with an orange hair band. Her eyes were so beautiful they were crystal blue. But it was pretty hard to see them because her eyes were tearful. "What's your name?" I asked her in a quiet voice. "Breanna." The girl said with some sniffles. "Breanna it's time to go and see your new room." Felix interrupted. "I thought that we had cells." I said but i regret saying that in front of Breanna. You could hear her sniffles. "Can i walk with you guys?" "Sure." Felix said. We didn't really say anything and once we got to her room." "Alrighty i will come back here in about twenty minutes i have to talk to June for a little bit. But i will be quick." He closed the door and held up a finger because he knew that we shouldn't talk until we were far enough from her room. "Ok what do you need June?" "The new general Gary who is he, why is he so mean and what happened to Bernard?" "He quit and Gary is a very good general." "Felix he literally yelled at Olivia, graham and i for getting a smoothie." "Well yes i mean Bernard was way too soft on you guys." "Yeah because he knew that we are basically living in the same area as our parents who are, as i remind you in prison." "We are keeping Gary and i have to go i am very busy." Felix started to walk away. "Well then, i want to go to a normal high school." he stopped. "What?" He said "yup and i already know where i am going to go." I said with the most confidence ever. "What no." "Yes i am Felix." "Everyone here has had a normal life here and at least one year of school but i have never been to a real school and I don't think that it is too late to enter. And i promise by the end of the year i will have all a's in every class." "Fine." Felix sighed he knew that i would not give up. "You start tomorrow and you better have all a's. yes! I screamed in my head. I ran to my cell and started to get ready for my first day of real school next week. Is till had to wait because felix had to register me to a school. Who knew that my life would never be the same. My old used flip phone buzzed. It was a text from Felix. You start Monday. here is your schedule and list of supplies. Tomorrow you can go look for some decent clothes for school. Thanks Felix! I responded to his text. I closed my phone and opened my computer it was a list of the school supplies that i needed. Pencils, pens, a binder, paper, and a million more things on that infinite list. "Oh i need to tell Olivia the good news," I try to calm down as I am super excited. I could barley sleep that night. It was about 4:30 when my alarm rang. I Hit the alarm very hard.
